Stamp Duy and SDLT. The difference?
About to purchase a new house and had a solicitors letter detailing their extortionate prices for doing nothing however it also had Stamp duty at 2,999 and SDLT at 3000 (being covered by the builder).

Are they trying to charge me for something twice are they two separate things??

I'm in work so thought I'd put a call out for help!!

Thanks in advance.

Surely an admin error. I'm also in the process of buying and every reference to the duty so far has just been SDLT.

We turned down a couple of conveyancing quotes purely due to admin errors in their list of charges. A couple put in stuff like Help to Buy charges... which we're not using.

I don't think there is a Stamp Duty anymore, just Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) which is on property transactions and Stamp Duty Reserve Tax (SDRT) which is on certain types of share transfers.

I doubt you are getting charged twice. Are you doing something complicated involving transferring second homes into a limited company or the like?
