Virgin Tivo question

Why does it show that I'm recording something that I have no interest in and I didn't set myself?

Then when you go into my shows and planned recordings they don't show up?

Mine does it all the time, records some random schite I've never even heard of. They show up in my shows though, maybe you've got some kind of filter on.

It records programs that it thinks you will like depending on your [^][V] ratings that you give programs using your remote.

You can see these programs in a separate folder called recommend recordings - or similar. I turned the feature off in the end - although I did stumble across a few decent recommendations, but mostly it was rubbish.

Ok thanks I'll have a look.

A completely useless and unnecessary feature then?

Yeah, you can turn the feature off. It used to irritate the hell out of me until I found that out. TiVo has to be the worst box I have ever had, it's unbelievably slow. I can't wait to get rid, but I have to wait until November. [sad]

For a while there was a performance issue with Tivo boxes, and that is why I turned it off.

Yes, 95% of what it recorded was rubbish, although I did come across the excellent "for the love of cars" using this feature.

Went into settings and found how to switch off recording suggestions.[^] Cheers for that.

YouTube, Netflix, iPlayer all excruciatingly slow.

Is a new box on it's way?

Yeah, new box on its way, but I think existing customers would have to pay for it. That rather galls me considering the technical issues and general slowness that I have had to put up with for the last 12 months. It used to run like a dream.

There's a new V6 box, I have it, much faster! Can only get it if you're on 100mb or 200mb broadband, as all the on demand features run through your house internet as opposed to the tivo which runs through its own!

Ring up and ask about it!

Painfully slow and clunky compared to Sky but I'm getting 200 mb broadband, XL tv with sky sports and bt sport and landlines for less than Sky TV alone.

Something to help speed up the tivos a bit

press

home
red thumbs up
green thumbs down
play, play, play

screen goes black for 20 seconds while it clears the cache

Just tried that clearing cache lark for the first time(had the tivo box ~3 years) Noticeably running quicker[^]

Virgin Tivo question

Just whilst I have a few 'experts' in the thread, I think I'm out of my contract now and looking at all the deals they're for new customers only.

So thinking of leaving and signing up again in the wench's name, but anyone else done it? It won't take a rocket scientist to work out what I'm doing but will Virgin pick up on it?
