Any news yet?

The longer this goes on the more uncertain the whole situation will become. Could suggest that we are working on bringing in a replacement, ideally, or in the worst case scenario we're fine tuning Agnew's 5 year contract as Boro's new Head Coach. We need to know one way or another whether Agnew has the job until the end of the season so that we can get on with preparing for that massive week after the international break.

Gibson has already said that he hopes Agnew is here this time next season and the season after that. He may be lying, like he lied about the Karanka departure (Gibson sacked him), but it looks like he'll be here to the end of the season at least.

So why does Steve Agnew in the post match press conference say that he hasnt spoken to Steve Gibson and doesnt know how long hes there for ?

That Gibson interview was done Thursday/Friday - he wouldnt tell BT Sport anything else different would he?

Becuase its football - you dont show your cards.
Its all spin until things are confirmed.
Lee Tomlin wasnt leaving the Club. The same day he was signed sealed and delivered by Bournemouth.
Maybe Agnew will be confirmed as Manager/maybe he wont.
But at this moment in time, that interview does not say he is the Manager until the end of the season. And Steve Agnew has said he doesnt know what his situation is.

'Any news yet?'

Yes, last week.

Do you need the club to make a new statement every day about it?

Yes FFS.
I only deal in my own opinions or FACT.
Doesnt mean he will be the next boss - but Agnew definitely isnt the full time Manager at the moment. Read Agnews own comments.

I know [:D]
I am as confused as anyone - because i genuinely believe at this moment in time that Agnew is not in charge until the end of the season.
Steve Gibson gives nothing away in that interview - its just cleverly worded.
And if Agnew doesnt know and theres no official statement (which there hasnt been) then Agnew is not anything other than Caretaker on a match by match basis at the moment.
Im not claiming anything other than what occurred. Maybe HR said that he doesnt want it but get Joe Jordan here as he is a good right hand man.
And Teesside is a damn sight nearer to Sandbanks than Ghana is.

At first I looked at it as Gibson being honest saying its Agnew's. However if I think about it he could be being clever to not get bent over by agents/managers he might want to go with.

"well theres your offer - dont accept weve got Agnew"

I don't know whether anything has changed but on the day AK left one of the BBC Sport journalists (Steve Crossman I think) tweeted that we had already sounded out a replacement and Agnew would not get the job until the end of the season.

If Steve Gibson can bring in a good manager he should do so because Agnew proved yesterday he will not keep us up.
In any case, he will not last past the end of the season.

He will say (if needed) that he meant SA was so successful he kept the job

He may well do, and if he does it will most likely be because SA has been successful to a certain extent. Or he may want to keep him as a valuable member of the backroom team in a similar way to what Blackburn did for years with Tony (Whinging terwatt) Parkes. It will all depend on how well SA does in relation to the criteria that SG has in his mind at the present time.

Official confirmation of what?

Agnew is the caretaker manger until the club decide otherwise. It took Leicester 19 days to announce Shakespeare as their full time manager.

Honestly, what is it about football that turns adults into impatient 5-year olds?

Not really. How do you know Agnew isn't what's best for the club?

Anyway, as for being 'saved', I hate to break it to you but, well you know....lol.

Really surprised we haven't heard an official line yet. There can only be two reasons:

1) We are still negotiating with SA to become our permanent long term Head Coach so an announcement will be made in the near future.

2) We are still sounding out a possible replacement for AK (short term or long term)

If Agnew was getting the job until the end of the season we should have had a confirmation by now.

Or Gibson has just decided to see how it goes and not rush into appointing a new manager? As Gestede said, a new manager would find it very hard to come in at this point and make big changes. If I were Gibson I'd plan for relegation and look at David Wagner as a replacement. If we stay up, hats off to Agnew. Either way, we should keep Agnew for until the end of the season.
