This has to be the philosophy for the remainder of this season. It is obvious we can't defend our way out of this situation as we have done in previous seasons, so the emphasis has to be on attack being the best form of defence.

Easter Saturday’s win over Hull City started with 5 attack minded players in the starting 11, it proved to pay dividends. Now the momentum has to continue and this policy has to be used against Fulham at the Riverside this coming Saturday.

Fulham’s recent away for has improved dramatically and led to Roy Hodgson insisting on a top ten finish this season. They will come to win this match and we have to be up for the challenge. We have to take the game to them and I personally would like to see us put four goals past our old custodian Mark Schwarzer.

Let’s see the attacking philosophy continue this Saturday Gareth. The signs are there that we can stay up and send our North-East Rivals, Sunderland and Newcastle down to the Championship.

Sitting back will surely get us relegated so lets here it for all out attacking from now on. It’s going to prove very entertaining if nothing else.

Entertainment is long overdue and it could prove to be the key to our survival this season. At least then we could hold our heads up high and say we give it our very best in the last 7 games of the season, including Saturday’s win.

What’s the worst case scenario that can happen? We can at least be proud of trying. We don't want to go out with a whimper.

ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK. Shout it out loud and let’s attack our way to Premier League safety.
