A massive game again today when Boro take on relegation rivals Hull City. If Boro could sink Hull then it would pile on the pressure of the east Yorkshire club. It would also lift Boro well above a relegation zone. And the way the results have been going since play resumed it is a win we really need.

While Wigan hope for mercy from the EFL other teams have been following their great escape on the pitch. Barnsley were the latest team to make 3 points, leapfrogging a Luton side that had halted Leeds United promotion charge with a highly creditable draw. Even Huddersfield won well at Birmingham last night. The Blues could yet be dragged into this desperate battle as the bottom clubs all seem focussed on full points every game.

More reason then why Boro must build on that Warnock bounce at Stoke. Ordinarily following the win with a draw on our travels at Hull would be a good result. But a win would now be so valuable. Not just for the 3 points to us but also it would rock back our opponents and set back any hopes they had of a revival following their 3 goals at St Andrews. We need to encourage them to think their freefall is back on in full effect and for them to put up the doomed signs again over the KC Stadium.

This looks like being the hardest relegation trial ever. You have to feel sorry for Wigan whose back to back to back wins have seen them as the form team in the division. Only for everything to be snatched away by take-over failings off the pitch. I don't suppose the Whelan family will be too enamoured by everything this week.

Neil Warnock said of his first week:

“They have been good in training and listened to what we wanted them to do. We have changed one or two things. It was a tough game. They are good side especially at home. I was pleased with the lads.”

What is his secret for making quick changes in these rescue situations?

“I have a way of doing my own thing when I go into a club. Because we have no time at all I tried to form an opinion of the lads in the first 48 hours, the first two sessions and planned the team on that really, on what I saw in training.”

Should we better placed in the league?

“You are where you are in the league, the Championship is a hard league. You don't get any points given to you. Yes, I think they (Boro) have got ability and technique wise there is some skill in there. Defensive wise there is a shortage wise. Strike force we are a bit thin now that Rudy has gone but I still think the lads that we have got are as good as any in the league.

Coulson will be fit to contest for a start. Will Tav get a promotion following his goal with his first touches off the bench at Stoke?

So, can Boro make it a victory by the Humber and make it a Warnock double before we take on another struggling team on Sunday in QPR?

Come On Boro
