Boro fans will be forced to wait and see just how much collateral damage is done to our survival hopes over the weekend. We have suffered that sinking feeling so often in recent weeks and now we could well be in the bottom three by the time we take on Forest on Monday night. While we are still fourth from bottom we recorded a podcast and tried our best to look on the bright side and put a brave face on it.

Can Boro dig deep and start a comeback against Forest? In many ways we saw seeds of our December renaissance in the fighting draw at the City Ground. Draws are probably not good enough at this stage. Nor one off wins but if we are to piece together another run like over Christmas time then we first need to stop losing and find a way to put the ball in the back of the opposition net.

Simple stuff but without creating clear cut chances you are not going to take your chances. Obvious, of course. But easier said than done at the moment.

We saw hardly any penetration against Luton or Barnsley but at least there were a handful of efforts on goal against Leeds. Confidence is everything and what difference might it have meant for Tavernier’s slob to have found the net rather the woodwork.

OK, maybe I am clutching at straws but none of us wants to get relegated and for me neither the manager going, Robbie Keane stepping aside or indeed Steve Gibson throwing in the towel would be a guarantee of anything positive. The only thing that can make a difference is taking points. We have to start winning.

This podcast was recorded Friday morning at Southside Broadcasting, James Cook hospital with anchorman Alex Lewczuk and Robert Nichols. It will also be broadcast over the weekend on Red Army Tv radio. Please download it now and listen at your leisure. Podcast HERE
