Boro fans travel across the M62 this afternoon to newly promoted Football League club Salford City. The latest friendly game has a very serious side to it after Boro faced a bruising scoreline in Germany. It will mark the return of striker Britt Assombalonga back from international duty. Kick off tonight at the Peninsula Stadium is 7.30pm.

It will be interesting to see if any players have earned promotion from the largely youthful squad that impressed at Bishop Auckland on Saturday. That 7-1 victory also proved a useful comeback run out for George Friend, with Danni Ayala also back in action at the weekend. Darren Randolph will again be missing injured so Aynsley Pears and Tomas Mejias will step forward between the posts.

Salford City have just completed their very first promotion to the Football League in their 75 year history. The icing on the cake for four promotions in five seasons was a Wembley play off win over Fylde. All achieved since the former Man United stars the Nevilles, Scholes, Butt and Giggs took over in 2014. Managed by former Preston stalwart Graham Alexander, The Ammies are now aiming to cement their place in the Football League.

Peninsula Stadium was formerly known as Moor Lane, and has been substantially redevloped over the past couple of years. Moor Lane is a clue to the location, actually in Kersal overlooking Salford and not far from Junction 17 of M60 Manchester Orbital. There are lots of parking restrictions around the ground so do not fall foul of a ticket. Salford City website has full parking advice including a park'n'ride.

Admission £7/£3 concessions.

Boro fans use Turnstile ‘A’ (Moor Lane East) for the East Stand and North Stand Block ‘H’ seats.
There are 1,200 standing spaces in the East Stand and 216 unreserved seats in North Stand Block ‘H’. There is no extra charge for seating.
