Following the dismissal of Boro's coaching staff (great sympathy for Curtis Fleming) the grand interrogation has begun. Will it be Jonathan Woodgate, the local lad who went to Madrid and back. Will it be Slaviša Jokanović, twice promoted only to once be sacked then second time around to have his side replaced wholesale from the European wholesale mart. Or will it be John Terry, a Bryan Robson type outside bet but without the north eastern sense or indeed sensibility. Then there is Paul Heckingbottom. What the heckinbottom... indeed.

We could add a Chris Hughton in there, the dogged perennial achiever, anyone know if he made the cut? But no Cowley brother or Mowbray second coming. No managers under contract. And quite right too.

Will fans soon be pining to have our Tone back again? He brought the finances back from the verge of disaster and took it on the chin in the transfer market perennially denied his pace and width and another full back.

No we must also take it on the chin and embrace what the future bowls us. Has Woody really got a coaching badge? Very probably. Is he really one of us? He could be, by now.

As for Jokanović, he could be more than the safe pair of hands, he knows more than anyone else how to shoot out of this league. But reports are he is determined not to be Fulhamed again, he wants to build his own team. That could be like the words Garry and Monk to Steve Gibson's ears. Can he/we really afford to take that gamble again? If it goes wrong is there another Tony Mowbray/Pulis out there to rebuild on the never-never and take it personally on the chin.

Decisions.. Decisions.. this one is a really big one. Needing a personality to get the fan base fired up again but we simply cannot afford another Strachan catastrophe. The fans are totally split in who they would like to see at the helm but one thing is for certain we will need to pull together very quickly behind the new gaffer because in this world of financial unfair play we cannot afford to stick around in the EFL too much longer.
