There is a real feel good factor around Boro fans this week, knowing Boro it will all be shot down in flames away at Wigan this weekend. But no... don't say it.. let's keep the momentum up. Let's build something and go forward with Boro.

Go forward with Boro would most certainly not have been the motto for the season as a whole. Yet the signing of Mikel at the anchor point and the sudden success of Fletcher and Britt as dual strikeforce has opened up real possibilities. Attacking possibilities. And suddenly things are on the up.

Even despite the injuries and suspensions, Boro continue to look water tight behind the class act that is John Obi Mikel. Whatever permutation of defenders Pulis has at his disposal they are highly disciplined and well-drilled. Ryan Shotton has excelled as a rampaging full back but now is emerging as a mature voice of communication at the heart of our defences. Then at the very back, between the sticks, Darren Randolph is ever bit as brilliant and unbeatable as Dimi was in our Aitor Championship seasons. A different kind of keeper, with incredible cat-like reflexes Randolph has been a quite outstanding buy for Boro.

Can Britt and belatedly Ashley Fletcher also pay their money back by blasting into the middle of a promotion run in? Ably supported by the Talented Mr Wing and human dynamo, Jonny Howson our dynamic duo (that is a lot of dynamo) can continue to shoot teams down at home now as well as on the road. And if all else fails then call for the demolition ball that is Jordan Hugill to force a way through.

It was good to see Tav get a chance again off the bench v QPR. He looks so keen as always and you feel he could inject the enthusiasm and more positive energy just when we need it most at the business end of the season.

I hate that phrase actually because for fans football is not business but romance, fantasy and adventure. The stuff of dreams. And a successful play off campaign would write another chapter and turn a tragedy into a fairytale. But there are bound to be more twists and turns yet. Lets hope it is a thrilling ride and that the Road to Wigan (pier) leads to three more precious points.

Up The Boro
