Boro enter the lion's den tonight when we take on Newport County at a brim full Rodney Parade. The Welsh minnows scent blood and another prize scalp to join Leicester City. Yes, the last minute equaliser at the Riverside by Matty Dolan has set up one of the trickiest of cup replays. Can Boro avoid a giant killing in the Transporter Derby sequel? Premier champs, the mighty Man City await the winners.

Historic Rodney Parade will be rocking tonight as plucky Newport County aim to rock us out of the FA Cup. The mouth watering home tie against Pep's all stars awaits the victors. Can we defeat the team with giant killing pedigree and also defeat a white hot atmosphere? It all looks set to be one of the game's of the season. If your nerve can stand it.

There are so many stories attached to this replay. Tony Pulis returns to his home town, in the shadow of the other Transporter. Lennie Lawrence is a consultant, the wise old owl masterminded a promotion to the first Premier League season and also helped bring Bryan Robson to the Boro. Former Boro youth, Matty Dolan broke our hearts in coming on off the bench to take us to a replay. People say the romance of the cup has gone, it is all business and league places that count. But this tie says something very different indeed.

If League form had anything to do with it then Boro would be feeling pretty confident. We came back from behind to belt the Baggies 3-2 away at the Hawthorns on Saturday. It felt like such a significant victory in the context of the season and the aftermath of the transfer window closing.

Down in League Two Newport crashed 3-0 at Grimsby Town, who jumped over them in the table.

But we all know league form has absolutely nothing to do with the cups. Mo Besic talked about Boro players being confident in our superior ability prior to our Carabao quarter final with Burton and we all know how that turned out. Weirdly we would have gone head to head to with Man City then as well had we not been defeated.

Boro have a history of losing in replays to Welsh teams, Cardiff and Swansea have both knocked us out in years gone by. Wrexham twice shocked us at their Racecourse Ground. But then again two of our greatest ever cup successes have been recorded in South Wales. Our 5-0 defeat of Swansea, was a feature Match of the Day game when the world was eyeing a giant killing only to savour at Boro's power play. And no one but no one will forget our League Cup victory at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

Let's make it three famous cup wins on Welsh soil tonight.

Come on Boro – Up For The Cup.
