Boro play Boro tomorrow in the FA Cup 3rd Round. Always one of the magical days in the football calendar, could this be the start of another cup journey for Boro or will Posh Boro give us a second giant killing mauling? Kick off at the Riverside tomorrow at 3pm.

A break from the League down by the Tees this weekend as Posh Boro arrive to make it a battle of the two Boro teams. Will the team from Peterborough pose any problems for us?

Boro will be without several defenders in the injured Ryan Shotton, Aden Flint and Daniel Ayala and there are bound to also be players rested. On a plus side of the coin we could be about to see history with 40 year old Dimi Konstantopoulus starting as the oldest player to pull on a Boro shirt in the FA Cup, that is Middlesbrough shirt and 16 year old Nathan Wood as the youngest. Nice to be there when history happens.

The tie evokes memories of Alan Foggon winners in night replays at Ayresome Park. Or closer in time long-haired George Boyd taking liberties as we stood behind the goal at London Road. Then of course the player that leapt between the Boro teams, in Lee Tomlin.

Boro fans will also likely get a first view of new loan winger signing Rajiv Van La Parra. It will be a welcome sight to see some width and pace on show for Middlesbrough fans. The game will be special for one other player that could feature from the start, Britt Assombalonga made his name playing for The Posh. How fitting it would be if the big striker found his mark again tomorrow.

Even though Middlesbrough will likely field a much understrength side, fans warmed to the mix of youth and experience on show in early rounds of the League Cup. Saturday should also see plenty of adventurous cup spirit on display. Besides it is the start of the FA Cup and no matter how many people moan to the contrary it is always going to be a special day for football fans. This weekend we have to make sure that Steve Evans, Barry Fry and all do not make it a double dose of cup misery for Middlesbrough. We must win the battle of the Boros'.
