Boro must put a halt to a disappointing sequence of results by picking up points at the home of QPR on Saturday. That means the second successive head to head with a former manager as we take on Steve McClaren's team in hoops. Let's hope the 2000+ strong away army roar us on to victory. Kick off 3pm.

Boro aim to put the dodgy home results in the past and pick up from where we left off last time in West London, namely equalling the victory at Brentford earned last month. December results have seen us slip badly in the table. We cannot afford that trend to continue any longer and so much bring back some spoils from Loftus Road.

Tony Pulis side is probably set up better to do battle away from home. In fact we have not been beaten in the last six games away. We are very hard to beat and can hurt teams on the counter, even without pace. Talking of pace, Adama Traore scored his first Boro goal away at Rangers last season. A repeat of that victory would be a really welcome way to stop the points rot.

Boro will be without suspended Mo Besic, so will again pay for his rush of blood. Lewis Wing and Dael Fry are big doubts and probably wouldn't be risked. Pulis has hinted at changes with the heavy schedule in mind.

Stoke have doubts over the wonderfully named Angel Rangel, better known for his years at Swansea and also Stoke loanee Geoff Cameron is struggling to be available.

Such a tight little ground, Loftus Road is always an interesting visit. It used to be a graveyard for Boro but we have done far better home and away against them in recent times.

This has nothing to do with history though if we don't start picking up points soon then our promotion prospects will be history. Now down to sixth in the league and trailing leaders Norwich by 7 points we need to start moving on up again. The away games against QPR and then Reading must be seized as opportunities to bounce back. It is obvious we need changes in the January transfer window but we must not lose any more ground before that.
