Boro return to Championship action tonight as we look to bounce back from defeat by beating Sheffield Wednesday tonight at Hillsborough, 7.45pm kick off. We could really do with a positive result this side of the international break.

At this stage of the season it is probably best to break the season up as segments between the pauses for international games. There is no doubt we were flying before the first full stop. That draw at Leeds might have kept us second but it was a moral victory and we were certainly the team to beat or the team that couldn't be beaten. But after that time out it seems the pack caught us in terms of fitness and started to get to grips with our tactics. Somehow we need to re find our edge again to allow us to challenge once more for those two automatic promotion places.

Sheff Wed will bring us into contact once again with Adam Reach, always a talent, anywhere down the left flank and a player with an eye for the spectacular goal. He is a player that could have developed further at Boro but was shown the door really by impatient Boro boo boys. There is a lesson there, surely.

Wednesday are dangerous at home, we have found that out to our cost many times in the past. They appear to be stirring once again in the right direction, unfortunately for us. But rather than worrying too much about our Yorkshire opponents can we get back in tune ourselves?

The international break puts us somewhat at a disadvantage with the likes of Martin Braithwaite and George Saville having had little time to train with the EFL teammates over the last two weeks. Braithwaite did score on international duty but will he be back firing on all cylinders for us tonight, or is it too soon. Surely one of the big differences between Boro before and after the first break was Braithwaite's form. Sharp, lethal, a real predator and then he fired in his transfer request. We need that hungry goal getter back for Boro.

We need the real Mo Besic to step forward, the player that terrorised Ipswich. The same can be said of George Saville, all over the park at Portman Road.

One player that did get a welcome break was Stewart Downing. Stewy was absolutely outstanding in his last two games. Let's hope it can be normal service resumed this evening from the former international currently oozing class for us down the right. The forwards have to start exploiting the phenomenal silver service provided by Downing.

Am looking forward to the resumption of live action tonight. It is never quite the same for me watching on tv so I will be there cheering on in person, being part of the Boro atmosphere on the road. We need your support on future road trips.

Let's beat Wednesday on Friday.
