Boro make the long journey south west this weekend as we take our unbeaten run for a big test run to Bristol City. Ashton Gate has been a graveyard for Boro so often in recent seasons. Garry Monk's Boro were battered and bruised in defeat last season. Can Tony Pulis keep this unbeaten and table topping start going on Saturday. Can Boro keep up the momentum? 3Pm kick off, Ashton Gate. See you there.

At today's 9am press conference I asked Tony about his opinion on the large travelling army that will heading down through the holiday routes tomorrow morning.

“The away support, in the time I have been at the football club, has been absolutely amazing. Absolutely fantastic. And they don't half get behind their team as well. I didn't realise what a long trip it was it surprised me. They are wonderful supporters and we appreciate them as much as anyone else don't worry about that.”

Pulis was asked about his reaction to the great start so far in League and now League Cup.

“It has been a good start and it was lovely to see the young ones perform on Tuesday.”

But he was sticking to his line about the great need to strengthen the squad.

“The squad needs to be strengthened, we are trying to do it. I hope we can do it.”

He revealed that as a group they are all united behind the need to bring players in. The players themselves want to strengthen.

“To be at the top of the table over a season you cannot afford to lose the players we have lost without replacing them.”

Then the very experienced boss issued a warning.

“The players that are here have done brilliantly but over a season of 46 games and the cup games you need a squad of players... we need to improve the quality and depth otherwise I am convinced we will fall away.”

Tony Pulis is returning to a city where he has plenty of friends and football history.

“It is always tough going to Ashton Gate. I spent a bit of time there as a manager. I have an association with Bristol Rovers where I started by footballing career. I have a lot of respect for Keith Landsdown and Keith Daw. What Steve has put together there in respect to the new stadium and surroundings has been really visionary.”

Hopefully Boro fans can enjoy the plush transformed Ashton Gate with another strong performance from the north eastern reds. Tony Pulis started to pay them back last season for all the damaging defeats inflicted by Bristol home and away. Let's make it a winning trek to Bristol and stay top of the league.

Come On Boro
