Yesterday was a landmark day for football fans when MPs decided they will debate the possible introduction of safe standing in the Premier League, and Championship, on June 25th. A petition to have the matter discussed reached well over 100,000 signatures last week and the depth of support from not just fans but clubs and indeed MPs is growing and growing. All of our 5 Teesside MPs have expressed their support. Now it is time for fans to give their views in full.

The announcement about the June debate was made after campaigners met MPs of the Football Supporters All Party Parliamentary Group in Parliament. Now Football Supporters Federation have teamed up with the English Football League (EFL) to launch the Stand Up For Choice survey - a campaign seeking to highlight the significant support that exists amongst football fans who want the ability to have a choice between standing and being seated at EFL matches. The data will be collated and presented to government and safety authorities so it should be very influential in the road ahead.

The focus of the campaign is on the impact of all-seater legislation on League One and Championship clubs while gauging the demand for change - supporters of all EFL clubs will want to have their say.

FSF logoSo whether you prefer to sit or stand, or would like that choice to be made available, then please take the survey (it takes two minutes to complete). Don't forget to share it among your members too, the more fans fill it in the stronger we can argue our case with the Government.

Stand up for Choice’ is a joint campaign being undertaken by the English Football League (EFL) and the Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF).

It provides supporters with the opportunity to have their say on the issue of standing areas in football stadiums and whether you would welcome the choice to sit or stand on matchdays.

EFLThe data from the survey will be collated and presented to the relevant Government and safety authorities to provide clear evidence to deliver informed debate on this issue.
