Boro need to bounce back from defeat and burst the Riverside bubble of Bristol City this afternoon. This should be an enthralling contest. Come on down to the Tees side. 3pm Kick off.

Boro were booted out of the 6th spot by a whirlwind first half from Sheffield United on Tuesday night. We will carry some of the carnage into today's contest with skipper Grant Leadbitter (harshly) red carded in that stormy first period.

Boro did take positives from that contest with a brave and battling second half with none more to the fore than Leadbitter's replacement today, the warrior, Adam Clayton. Can a hurt and bruised Boro take that second half fightback spirit into today's contest?

Bristol City have been Boro's bogey side throughout the Riverside era, we have won at Ashton Gate but a succession of Boro managers have had to stomach defeats on Teesside. They even did the double over us in our Aitor promotion campaign. So, you might say we really owe them.

As Boro flattered to deceive City made a storming start to the season. Only the incredible successes of their long League Cup campaign took some of the wind out of their sails. But now they are right on our tails, just one place and one point down on us. There can be no messing today we must hit them where it hurts and for once grab a victory over a play off rival.

Bristol City took us apart at Ashton Gate. Garry Monk's tactics were undone and probably the Boro career of Cyrus Christie as we conceded near mirror image soft goals from players unmarked at the back post. Talking of which one of the scorers and stars of that win, Joe Bryan, switched from marauding left back to right back last time out. Where will he line up this afternoon? Bristol City captain Bailey Wright is a doubt for the game.

Fabio put in an absolutely storming second half display against the Blades, will he be rewarded with an opportunity to inject that energy and attitude this afternoon? Will Britt be handed a chance to be raging bull into the Bristol defences. Can Traore reclaim his energy and top form? Will Bamford be fit for purpose to resume his goalscoring best?

It is absolutely essential that we stay in the mix until the Millwall home game. We have to be able to leap frog the south London team in our final home game. That means defeating Bristol City today and finally, finally showing that we are capable of defeating a rival.

Come On Boro
