Boro will not underestimate the challenge from south Yorkshire when we try and make three wins out of three on Saturday. It would be another huge 3 points if Boro could record a double over Barnsley at the Riverside tomorrow 3pm kick off.

Although it is 6th plays 21st Barnsley will be scrapping for their lives to stay out of the bottom three. In 22nd place and 2 points behind the Tykes is the Birmingham side we defeated at St Andrews in midweek. That was a real backs to the wall job in the second half as we went into all out defence to cling on to Patrick Bamford's first half lead. The bad news is that Bamford is struggling to be fit for this game and he is not alone either.

Already without skipper Grant Leadbitter (suspension and hamstring injury double whammy) there are big injury doubts surrounding Patrick Bamford, midfielder Mo Besic and left back George Friend. All three have been bang on form and been a major part in the recent revival that has seen us climb into a play off position. Tony Pulis will be keeping his fingers crossed about all three.

Bamford has now scored 7 in the last 4 games. He is just behind the 11 goal tally of Britt Assombalonga. Britt scored one of the best goals for Boro away at Oakwell. Injury to Bamford could hand Britt the opportunity to revisit that goalden goal. If he gets the opportunity then Britt must put the team first but also seize the chance to show the goals can still flow.

Tony Pulis has today called for protection for Roadrunner winger Adama Traore. Just as when Juninho played for us all those years ago opponents are ganging up to foul him. At Sunderland this resulted in a red card after an all out assault. But even at Birmingham, there were times when he would be fouled two or three times on the same run, before finally being brought down to the ground. Pulis is right, referees have to take firm control. Everyone would take it in turns to hammer Juninho, so no one saw red and the same is happening with Traore. The ref has to be brave and caution each player to stop them in their tracks.

So, not an easy game tomorrow but what a prize for victory continuing to strengthen our play off hand.

Come on Boro
