Boro FMTTM podcast kicks off 2017 by focussing on the first steps to Wembley with Rob Nichols welcoming newbie Oliver Dixon and Manilla PR supremo/Sheffield Wed pilgrim Tony McDonagh to a programme anchored by Alex Lewczuk. Don't mention Alex allegiances.

We reflect on Boro`s recent battles and how in particular a one goal lead at Old Trafford somehow turned into a two goal defeat. Oh and dont mention late route one type goals conceded.

We ponder if Rudy Gestede is the answer and if so what exactly is the question. Boro's message to Rudy being our opening shot in the January Sales, the fabled transfer window.

We then look at how the “Love Middlesbrough” campaign is bringing premiership benefits to the town as football tourism takes off in the heartland of Teesside.

Oh and then there is that little matter of an FA Cup 3rd round tie between Boro and Championship form team and recent conquerors of Newcastle United, Sheffield Wednesday.

Just who will be up for the cup? Or will it be a battle of the reserves. What does recent history tell us? Have cup runs helped or hindered our progress? Could a win against the Owls inspire us or provide an unwanted distraction in a vital month of key League fixtures?

All this and far more packed and gift wrapped into a 20ish minute show. Our Happy New Year to you dear readers and listeners. Fmttm podcast companion to Issue 572 Boro v Leicester City.
