Although Boro's ranks have been vastly reduced through injuries there were only positives uttered from the mouth of Tony Mowbray. There is no fear factor for the Boro boss but ruthless professionalism as he looked ahead with excitement to Boro's 3rd Round Cup tie against Hastings at the Riverside, Saturday Kick off 3pm. Be there and support the Boro and get up for the cup.

At yesterday's press conference I asked Tony Mowbray how he guarded against any possible fear factor within his team. After all games against non league teams are always memorable but defeat is absolutely unthinkable. No one will ever let Newcastle United fans forget their defeat to non league Hereford in 1972 and quite rightly so.

Fly: You played for Boro against Sutton United. It took us a replay to win and so we have very good memories of that tie. But games against non league opposition are the ultimate banana skins. How do you guard against the fear factor creeping in for the players?
TM:
How do you guard against it? You do the preparation. We've done some today. The positive of having such an injury situation is that we know none of the players unavailable are coming back so we can work with the team.

So we did some working with the team today which has been a bit unique for us for a week or to actually have eleven players to put out on the training ground this morning. Talk about how we are going to set-up and the threats that Hastings possess. How we are going to try and nullify this and yet how we are going to give them problems here. So that was good today.

How do we guard against it? We are professional footballers, professional people. You talk about their strengths, you talk about their weaknesses. Then the players have to go out there and do it. Forget about the name of the opposition we are playing, just concentrate on the eleven players and the guy particularly in your area of the pitch you are playing against and come out on top.
