Boro go to Blackburn tonight, the final instalment of a really tough assignment, playing second and first in the league away from home within four days. It would be bad enough but Boro have of course yet to register a point on our travels so this is a very testing time indeed for us. Just how will the squad be feeling after what was quite frankly a bit of a mauling at Blackpool on Tuesday night? Can we feel any positive thoughts to bouncing back against the team that looks the strongest on paper and in practice in the league?

I asked Mowbray a few questions yesterday at the pre-game press conference about his approach to Blackburn. He was surprisingly upbeat about our chances. Talking positively about it being “an opportunity for 3 points on Friday night and we will going to Ewood Park in a positive frame of mind trying to get the right result.”

It is a big ask but he is perhaps right to add that getting 3 points tonight would be better in many respects than having drawn both games. “If we go to Blackburn and get 3 points it has probably been a pretty decent week taking 3 points from those two fixtures.” But that is a big IF right now.

Fly: A big defeat at 2nd place Blackpool on Tuesday night. Have lessons been learned from that game or is it still too soon?

TM: I think the bottom line is as I said after the game Blackpool are a very good side they are sitting second in the league. We can see why. They are a very talented football team with some good players both in and out of possession. You can see why they win matches and yet they have to try and produce that over 46 games. I'm sure they don't reach that standard of play every game otherwise they would win every match, pretty comfortably.

So, it is a long season, lets keep going but as you say it is a tough week. We are playing the teams first and second in the league away from home. If we go to Blackburn and get 3 points it has probably been a pretty decent week taking 3 points from those two fixtures.

I said to you earlier in the week, last season there were spells where we felt we were playing pretty well and picking up a point and then drawing another game and taking the positivity of being unbeaten. Yet you might as well have lost two and won one as opposed to drawing three. Let's wait and see, there is an opportunity for 3 points on Friday night and we will going to Ewood Park in a positive frame of mind trying to get the right result.

Fly: So, it is a positive frame of mind amongst the players because we are yet to get off the ground yet away from home.

TM: Yes, I think for me the only reason we need to get something is because it was two games, three games, four games, five games the question is going to be asked until we start winning a game away from home. So lets hope at the fourth attempt we can win a game away from home. Ultimately, as I say every season, you are accumulating points at the start of every season. The more you get, the earlier you get them, the better it is for you of course. Where you get them it doesn't really matter. We could have easily won away maybe at Millwall or Barnsley and didn't and yet might have dropped some points at home and yet we haven't, we have won the home games. We are accumulating points but of course we want to win away from home as soon as we can and it is an opportunity on Friday.

Fly: Jason Steele made some phenomenal saves again at Blackpool. He is outstanding at the moment.

TM: I think he is in good form, he is in a confident mood. I think going away and keeping a clean sheet for the Under 21s on the back of his clean sheet against Ipswich. He is doing OK. Obviously he was disappointed to lose the goals the other night. But Steeley is young goalie who is still developing as a goalkeeper but coming on very, very nicely. Looking more mature every game he plays really. Lets hope he continues in the same vein.

Fly: On Tuesday we had Marvin who hadn't trained and Lukas easing his way back. Are these players closer to 90 minutes and making a big impact for us?

TM: I think we have got options up front now. I think Lukas was very unfortunate with his injury in pre season but he is working hard in training and needs some game time on the pitch. He has had two bit parts now and will be getting closer to a start. Marvin obviously missed a couple of week's training through a family health issue. He got an hour or so on the pitch the other night and he will be better for that as well. We have got Ishmael, we have got Ledesma and we have got Luke Williams, we have got players who come in and impact on the team.
