Tony McMahon says Boro’s confidence is high going into Saturday’s game at Peterborough. He is not looking at returning with anything but 3 points and a win. The battling full back was left frustrated by the result but not the performance last weekend against Blackpool. Yet he hopes that single point will count in our favour in the final reckoning.

Fly: We didn’t manage to keep the winning run going at home but I thought it was a tremendous game v Blackpool.

TM: Yes. Obviously it was a decent game, the fans that I speak to and the lads that were watching said it was probably the best we’ve played there this season. We are a little bit frustrated that we didn’t get the win. We gave away 2 sloppy goals on our part. Especially after going ahead twice in the game. I think we should have been good enough to see it out but we didn’t. So we are frustrated. But it is another point on the board and we are still third (before Cardiff game) and we are still at the right end of the table and competing.

Fly: They seemed to come back at us each time we scored.

TM: Yes they did. We applied loads of pressure and we got the second and then the game flipped and they started to apply a lot of pressure. Obviously we didn’t hold on to the 2-1 win and they got a goal and 2-2. But it is a point against a team in and around us. So, not a bad point.

Fly: Blackpool are a pretty good team.

TM: Yes they are, they played well.

Fly: And now to Peterborough on Saturday. We have won there once this season.

TM: We went there and we played really well that night there in the cup. One of our better performances.

Fly: Barry Robson played particularly well.

TM: Yes Robbo had a good game and scored. We had a good performance down there and we are looking for the same again with 3 points and that would set us up for the big game against West Ham on the Tuesday.

Fly: There is a game in between but are you looking forward to West Ham?

TM: It is always in the back of your mind. We are looking ahead to the run of fixtures that we’ve got. We know that we’ve got West Ham coming up but we know we’ve got Peterborough first. We are going there high in confidence. And we are looking to get 3 points that we need. Away from home we have been really good this year apart from Southampton. So as I say we are full of confidence and are looking at going there and winning.
