So comes the 22nd game of the season and with all this talk of transfer speculation with Boro’s name being linked with every player under the sun it’s now time to get back to the core with Blackburn on Saturday.

Last week’s performance was a good one but it doesn’t hide the fact that we are one point yes one point from the bottom three and we need the points thick and fast.

A journalist for the Times made a very good point regarding our team last week and the fact that while Liverpool might not have been at absolute full strength we were missing several important players. That made a change because our weakened side was hardly mentioned elsewhere in the media. Hopefully, tomorrow Woodgate will be up for selection as well as Arca. We need to get the key players back playing, as we really need them.

Blackburn’s results have started to be a little up and down lately, which is unlike them as in general I feel they are quite consistent. A club to which Boro should maybe look to aspire if not envy. So, the game will certainly not be easy.

On the other hand the teams in and around us have difficult games as well so hopefully if we get beaten (touch wood) it won’t effect our position.

We need every man on deck before the tidal wave that is the up and coming four games (I don’t want to look too far ahead) but I can see us picking up points.  I’ll remind you who we are playing between now and mid February, obviously I have already mentioned Blackburn but a week and a bit later we have Wigan at home and, in the same week we have a derby against Newcastle. Hopefully the Newcastle result will be better than last year. The final game of the all important quartet is a home game against strugglers Fulham. We must look to clinch a double against the Londoners.

Hopefully we can pick up at least a point at Ewood Park but we will be in for a toughie.

Come on Boro
