Fmttm in association with Fans United T-shirts is proud to announce the release of a new t-shirt in celebration of Boro hero Tony Mowbray. Entitled Take Us To The Moon, here’s hoping.

We are all keeping our fingers crossed here that Tony Mowbray Captain Colossus is about to come home and turn this Boro team around. Here’s the t-shirt to welcome back the man that helped give Fly Me To The Moon its name. Back in 1988 when Gillandi and Robbie first cranked up the old typewriter and photocopier Boro boss Bruce Rioch said if he had to go to the moon then it was his skipper he would want as his co-pilot.

OK we are sticking our necks out here with this launch but even if Mogga doesn ‘t return then he is still worthy of a face on a t-shirt for his inspirational captaincy that helped lead the youngsters of 1986 from the brink of oblivion to the top flight in just two incredible seasons. You will also be getting an instant piece of future nostalgia. Remember when Mowbray was touted as next Boro boss. Yes it will be a rarity and you will have been in there at the start backing the man and with the t-shirt to prove it.

Of course bringing out a t-shirt has probably cursed this managerial appointment as in the grand tradition of fmttm t-shirts. Slaven for Scotland was followed by Bernie being overlooked by Andy Roxburgh and instead picked up by Jack Charlton’s Ireland, not a complete failure then but not the outcome we had forecast.

Perhaps the most disastrous fmttm t-shirt was the Pears shirt in celebration of his selection for the full England squad. No sooner had the design been inked up on Gillandi’s press than the Boro no.1 was injured and out of the national team, for good.

But it has not all been bad luck, Juninho’s t-shirt did herald in a wonder couple of wonder years from the Brazilian maestro. Lightning did strike twice in Europe, how can anyone forget that?

Fans United is a brand spanking new Teesside T-shirt collaboration and the Mowbray shirt will be the first of many designs that will be winging your way very soon. We’ve had a peek at some of these images and are pretty excited by them and looking forward to seeing them printed up.
