It’s summer, we’ve been relegated and that means we’re all as miserable as sin. So we thought we’d take you through a timewarp back to better times with the help of our book Teesside Urban Legends: The Best of the Boro Message Boards.

ComeOnBoro.com's Elle Brunton will be bringing you a chapter-by-chapter review as we count down to…  Father’s Day. Yes Teesside Urban Legends might just cheer up your old dad and remind him of happier days.

It will be a bit like the Twelve Days of Christmas in summer but no measly partridges or onion rings here thank you very much.

Instead, Elle will be bringing you snippets of solid gold entertainment from Teesside Urban Legends.

So let's get started...

Chapter One: Middlesbrough Urban Legends

We on Teesside have always loved a good rumour - from the sad and disturbing to the plain bizarre (a topless chippy in Redcar anyone?). Well, all the rumours are here!!

Through the enthusiasm, creativity and let's face it, boredom, of a collection of posters, this particular thread ran for over a year, with people constantly adding more information and posting ever more outrageous stories.

Colourful characters such as 'Keogh' , 'Eric the Wireless' and 'Salmonella Sam' are remembered, myths are debunked and a fair amount of detective work sheds light on some of Middlesbrough's most enduring mysteries.

Did Adam and the Ants really get beaten up at the Rock Garden? Which band drank bodily fluids on stage? And did Terry Scott really drive his car off the Transporter Bridge?

For the answers to all these questions and more pick up a copy of Teesside Urban Legends today...

Review of chapter two coming tomorrow..
