Gary Pallister, or Pally as he is know, has finally after a decade of leaving Old Trafford released a book about his career. Pally was one of those great defenders who quietly got on and played the game, his career at United spanned a number of years starting back in the early 90’s and finally left United to return to his hometown of Middlesbrough in 1998. We managed to get an interview with the man himself and ask some of those all important questions, the ‘why’s’ and ‘what ifs’. At the same time I will give you a bit of a look into his book ‘Pally’ which is a must for every United supporters stocking this Christmas.
Pally who was a bit of a late bloomer in football terms started his professional career late, he saw the troubles at Middlesbrough as they went in liquidation. Pally then was lucky enough to courted by Liverpool and then United who paid a record £2.3 million for the young defender. At United he played an instrumental role in Sir Alex Ferguson’s regeneration of football at Old Trafford and started brining home the silverware.
As a player he worked with the greatest manager in the Premier League and played alongside greats like Cantona and Schmeichel. Pally saw the likes of Giggs, Scholes, Keane, Beckham and the Neville brothers come through the ranks at United from youngsters.
While the former United and Middlesbrough player is now a pundit we managed to get his opinion on a lot of things United and get an insight into United. Further articles to follow including the interview itself.
