The Carling Cup enters its next round as Blackburn travel to United. As the Carling Cup moves into the quarter final stages it becomes ever more important for United to secure a solid victory and not let the competition's value slip away.

As is often the case the bigger clubs focus on the competitions which are perceived to be important are given priority and the other 'less' important competitions are used as training matches for the second string players. While competitions like the Carling Cup are overshadowed by the likes of the FA Cup competition; the importance of victory is all the more vital for the morale of the team and get them into winning ways again.

Ferguson however is likely to make big changes after the heavy run of late, with clashes against Arsenal, Villarreal and Manchester City over the past two weeks and some minor injuries in the United camp I expect we will see a very different team to the won that secured victory over the City fans this past weekend.

I expect after seeing Kuszczak in action in the Champions League we will see foster getting a run in the Carling Cup this time around, hopefully for his sake he can secure a clean sheet. He will be haunted by memories of Celtic slipping one past him. Tevez is likely to start and most probably is going to mean Rooney will be rested this time as Ferguson tries to find a partner up front for Tevez. Ronaldo I expect is likely to start even after the disappointment over the weekend, today he was awarded the best player award by French Football magazine. Ronaldo steals the award from Kaka, who won it last year and beat Messi and Fernando Torres who came second and third respectively.

Ferguson is likely to include quite a few youngsters in the squad and we are likely to see Rafael at right back as the Brazilian youngster shows how much of a talent he is, Johnny Evan may also get a run to rest either Vidic or Ferdinand and in the midfield we are likely to see Manucho starting again. After he secured a goal in his last outing for the first team.

While Blackburn are without Dunn, Reid and Grella due to injuries and Keith Andrews is cup-tied. The match which kicks off at 8pm tomorrow evening is likely to showcase the talent coming through the United ranks, but I sincerely hope they go out with a victory in mind!
