Sunderland (Roy Keane) 1 - 1 Arsenal (Arsene Wenger)

A long rivalry exists between Keane and Wenger after years of Keane being the pain in Arsenal’s team during numerous defeats at the hands of United. This match was only just saved by Cesc Fabregas in the dying second to get Arsenal the solitary point against a dominant Sunderland. Leadbitter scoring the early goal giving Sunderland the advantage early in the game and putting Arsenal under pressure. Roy Keane is happy with the draw and Wenger has nothing to complain about as his team lacked the accuracy and sharpness to seal all 3 points against Sunderland. This result puts Arsenal even with Aston Villa who are currently in 4th place but have a game in hand as they take on second place team Chelsea on Sunday the 05 October 2008. Sunderland move their way in behind Wigan and are presently in 14th place, though a draw would see Everton draw even.

West Bromwich 1 - 0 Fulham

WBA eventually took advantage of Fulham’s lacklustre defending and slipped a single goal past the Fulham defence and took all 3 points leaving Fulham closer to the relegation zone as they get stuck with a meagre six points this season.

Wigan 0 - 1 Middlesbrough

Wigan dominating possession throughout the game but an amazing defensive performance from thwe visitors denied every shot on goal. Middlesbrough’s Aliadiere scored the goal, effectively stealing the three points from Wigan who are now on the same points as Sunderland.
