United take on Chelsea in an epic clash, but how big will it be? We shall have to leave that to the game to decide.

Injuries and suspensions plague both teams with Vidic suspended, Essien, Drogba and Carrick injured means the teams are missing some vital players. A possibility of Evans or Brown replacing Vidic, positive news is Gary Neville’s return to fitness, although some have critised his ‘rustiness’ in some of his crosses on Wednesday night. Evans has some amazing talent for a 20 year old defender and it is brilliant to see such talent coming through the United ranks; it is still uncertain whether Ferguson will go with experience or talent. Personally I expect him to play Evans, keeping Brown as a replacement; Ferguson has a reputation for playing talented youngsters in big matches and feel Evans needs to be able to prove his maturity in one of the biggest clashes of the season.

Chelsea have got Deco in the centre whom United did look at a number of years ago; a very talented player who is currently on form, though can he produce the goods against Hargreaves and Scholes. Chelsea are also lucky to have captain John Terry after his red card was controversially overturned y the FA, giving Chelsea some strength in the defence to help protect Cech against the likes of Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov or Ronaldo. Berbatov who was doubtful this past week after hurting his knee has been confirmed fit for the Chelsea match and have no doubts that we shall see him at some point. Ronaldo who is very keen to get back into the game after his surgery and the warm welcome he received from the United fans at Old Trafford this past Wednesday; there is a great chance he will be playing in this great clash. Chelsea are without Drogba after it has been confirmed he is not fit enough to play at the moment.

Can United break Chelsea’s streak so far this season? Looking at the line up it is a definite possibility with odds in favour of United beating Chelsea better than Chelsea winning though the same odds for a draw of 2/1 and for United to win. Berbatov and Ronaldo favourites to score first. All in all this should prove to be an exiting game for both sets of supporters; though now more than ever is it vital for United to claim all 3 points and get into winning ways before they are too far behind to challenge the league leaders. Arsenal now leaders with 12 points after securing a win yesterday this takes them 1 point ahead of Liverpool, though with Chelsea 2 points behind and a game in hand I expect Arsenal fans to put aside their differences and will be willing United to win this clash of the titans.

Looking to the future United take on Middlesbrough on Tuesday night in the Carling Cup and host Bolton next Saturday the 27th of this month.

Surprisingly United are presently sat in 15th place though with in most cases 2 games in hand after the Fulham match was rescheduled due to the Super Cup match earlier this season, it doesn’t look as bad, a win would put United in the region of 10th place depending on the other matches and a draw would likely result in them staying in 15th position.. United will need to prove their skills and experience in today’s match at Stamford Bridge.
