It’s the weekend and the big names in the Premiership have big matches which shall determine who comes out on top. United take on rivals Liverpool in a clash at Anfield that could take the reigning champions to the top of the table along with Chelsea. The late match tomorrow night features the clash of the big cash clubs as City host Chelsea. The cash injection at City took them to the top of the wealthiest clubs in Britain and then they added insult to injury as Chelsea signing target Rubinho turned a lighter blue as City took him far out of reach of Chelsea.

Liverpool v Manchester United

A life long rivalry between Liverpool and United which has existed since the formation of the British football league and not much has changed since then. Liverpool still considered one of the big four in England; their trophy case has not been totally bare lately though after taking home the Champions League crown in 2005, the FA Cup and Community Shield in 2006 and runners up in the 2007 Champions League final. United on the other hand have had more success recently winning the Premier League the last two years running, bring home the Champions League trophy last season and the community shield the last 2 years.

The rivalry though extends for decades before that and nothing in that respect has changed. The ferocity at tomorrows match at Anfield will be obvious and while Anfield can only hold a little over 45000 supporters, the magic of television and internet means that millions of supporters will be logging on for one the biggest matches of the season. Benitez has confirmed the fitness of both Gerrard and Torres for tomorrows match while United are likely to field new signing Berbatov alongside Rooney who scored against Croatia in England’s match on Wednesday night.

Liverpool not coming off a good streak after a near draw against Middlesbrough but for Gerrard’s goal in the 92nd minute after a very disappointing 90 minutes from the Liverpool squad. United need every point to contribute to their campaign for a third consecutive Premier League title; Liverpool will not give the three points away easily either.

Some hard facts that make sore reading for Liverpool fans, United have not lost to Liverpool at Anfield for 7 seasons and the only player to score in United’s net in nearly 3 years is John O’Shea with a own goal. Liverpool’s defence has always kept them alive against United and made it extremely difficult for United to take home all three points from the games though United have got Berbatov in and that should prove a useful asset in this vital game. The fans with tickets will be streaming to the Anfield stadium to cheer United to a great victory.

For those fans that don't have tickets you can get math reviews here after the match and you can also watch the game that will be aired on Sky Sports 1 at 12h45 BST and the score will be determined before the kick off of the City-Chelsea match at which time you can switch over to Setanta Sports at 17h00 BST.
