A weekend of international football sees England take on Andorra in Barcelona, Spain. A match with a lot of speculation after England’s failure to qualify for the last Euro2008 competition. The big question is have England got the goods to deliver for qualification for the World Cup in 2010?

A look at the quality of the individual players within the team shows some immense talent within the country though as with most football teams a lot has to do with the manager. England has struggled to keep a stable manager, though after the failure of Steve Mclaren, the FA announced the new England coach to be Fabio Capello. Six months since he took over England has not seen much publicity under a cloud of club football focus, though now Capello is too come under close scrutiny in England’s World Cup qualifiers. He officially took over the position in January 2008 on a two and a half year contract with the possibility of a two year extension. This current contract gives Fabio Capello reign over England until after the World Cup.

Fabio Capello has been seen at many games last season and at a few big clashes this season already, but with injury worries he is not having the easiest time of it. Currently Rio Ferdinand seems unlikely to play after pulling out of Wednesday’s training session this week with a stiff back, the same thing that affected a few pre-season matches. Owen Hargreaves will also be missing both the match tomorrow and England’s match against Croatia on the 10th of September as he is still on the road to recovery. Even though Hargreaves nears recovery, Ferguson believes he is shall not be ready to for England’s matches or the rigours of International football. Liverpool’s captain Steven Gerrard is also reported to be missing this match after a groin strain. He is likely to be out for another week or two.

Aside from these injury concerns Fabio Capello still has a pretty formidable force, Andorra being the smaller of the two games. Croatia is the bigger more important match. These injuries has forced the England coach to call up Jimmy Bullard who according to the BBC finds the call up to the national squad a bit surreal. The Fulham midfielder is still uncapped and definitely a surprise to most speculators.

All in all for England this no small match, they need every game to secure qualification. The Andorra match kicks off on Saturday the 6th of September at 7pm (BST) on ITV.
