So we are but a week away from the big one!

The final clash of the titans is looming in the near future and the time is a short. A mere 7 days away and we shall all be glued to our seats with every muscle tensed.

Over the next week we will be looking at the past season, the teams head to head, the stats, the figures and the speculation before the big day in Russia. After the match we will have a run down and analysis of the player’s performances and the post match celebrations around the continents.

The final is between Chelsea and Manchester United, both the best English football has to offer finishing a measly 2 point apart. The great United who took their 10th premier league title since the inception of the Premier League.

The setting of the scene is Moscow, Russia; with a population of 11 million which makes it the biggest city in Europe. The greatest landmark is probably the Kremlin; a spectacle in its own right. The is Luzhniki Stadium is part of the massive Luzhniki Sports Complex and has a maximum capacity of 69500. It was built back in 1956 and since then has hosted both the 1980 Olympics and the 1999 UEFA Cup final. Over the years it has undergone a lot of redevelopment and expansion to accommodate the nearly 70000 spectators. Access to the stadium is simple with a variety of transport options of either the train/underground, bus or a car. The locals have set up two ‘fan zones’ with entertainment right in the vicinity of the complex. Rumours I hear is that it will be open for midday before the match and remain open into the early hours of the next morning, especially useful for post match celebrations and I expect the atmosphere will be electric both before and after the game. All tickets have been allocated though I expect there will still be many fans travelling without tickets.

The finale is next Wednesday the 21st of May at 19h45 BST and will be displayed on ITV1 for those who don’t have the monopolistic Sky! Coverage starting at 7pm.
