So...two weeks from today Mr Blower/AA should have a fully compliant business plan ready to throw down to the EFL who will pass it with flying colours. Or not...

Underhanded tactics from the EFl have more than likely derailed it, but probbly won't matter without an indepenent view point on it they EFL will just reject it regardless of how good or bad it is.

My gut feeling is without a new owner we don't stand a chance of passing it, and with the EFL doing their best to deter any potential sale (appealing the point deduction) it's left us no where to go other than bust.

I'm sure that our 'business plan' will be just as robust as that of every other League 1 and 2 club with no idea of when the EFL lower league season is going to restart, the nature of the conditions that are going to apply, the possibility of socially-distanced crowds, or home fans only crowds, and so forth, and the implications of all of this for cost and revenue streams.

In the present circumstances, the stipulation of this condition just gives some idea of the tenuous grasp on reality that some people have...

That said, I'm sure that Stevenage, to name a club almost at random, will no doubt claim that they've got one.

I have heard a rumour this week that Mark Blower has quit the club after having decided that preparing a business plan for the EFL is pointless in view of their decision to appeal against the 2 point deduction and their apparent determination to get rid of Macc at all costs.

There could be some truth in this rumour as an online article has surfaced today by a football investigative journalist by the name of "Twohundredpercent" which is a comprehensive history of all of the shenanigans at MTFC . In this article reference is made to Mark Blower having now left Macc.

Of course it may be that this rumour is untrue but if Mark Blower has left the club what will happen about the business plan - is there anyone else capable of preparing it or are we simply doomed?

I imagine that Mark Blower felt like Old Mother Hubbard – “when he got (back) there the cupboard was bare” - as there was:

• No leadership / guidance / direction

• No Board

• No backing / support from the EFL

• No money

• No communication

• No team management

• No players (sorry, there were 2 – though they may be on the way once the Transfer Window opens in 10 days time)

• No training facilities – though with only 2 players that’s probably not a pressing issue

• No staff

• No plans for the 2020-21 season - whether that be in EFL2, National League or National North

• No playing kits (or merchandise) - though other Clubs have been announcing kit deals / launches for weeks...

From the 200% article:

“The IDC’s insistence on a “professionally prepared business plan” reads like a pre-emption of criticism for not relegating Macclesfield. But Macclesfield know the plan will stretch resources. And they had their excuses ready. They immediately requested a submission deadline extension to 31st August, because Mark Blower, the ex-Macc chairman “invited to assist in the attempt to improve the management at the club” by Alkadhi, “had to familiarise himself with the club’s current position and because “possible variables for next season were still developing.”

The latter ‘excuse’ was verified by the EFL’s appeal. But the IDC dismissed both. “We disagree,” they stated firmly. “Mr Blower should be prioritising the basics of proper financial management and funding in any event, and the plan is needed before next season, notwithstanding that some aspects will continue to evolve.” And maybe they were rightly so dismissive, especially as Blower has since “familiarised himself” with leaving Macclesfield.“

And from the MTFC Official Site from 8th July 2020:

“ In addition to this, we would like to publicly offer Mark Blower our most sincere thanks for his continued counsel and unwavering support in helping the Club navigate our way around the challenges that currently face us.

This has not only proved to be invaluable, but is greatly appreciated by us all.

Once again, we will confirm any further developments on this matter as soon as we possibly can.”

the attached came to mind when thinking about the way forward

The Plan

In the beginning, there was a plan,
And then came the assumptions,
And the assumptions were without form,
And the plan without substance,

And the darkness was upon the face of the workers,
And they spoke among themselves saying,
"It is a crock of sh*it and it stinks."

And the workers went unto their Supervisors and said,
"It is a pile of dung, and we cannot live with the smell."

And the Supervisors went unto their Managers saying,
"It is a container of excrement, and it is very strong,
Such that none may abide by it."

And the Managers went unto their Directors saying,
"It is a vessel of fertilizer, and none may abide by its strength."

And the Directors spoke among themselves saying to one another,
"It contains that which aids plants growth, and it is very strong."

And the Directors went to the Vice Presidents saying unto them,
"It promotes growth, and it is very powerful."

And the Vice Presidents went to the President, saying unto him,
"This new plan will actively promote the growth and vigour
Of the company With very powerful effects."

And the President looked upon the Plan
And saw that it was good,
And the Plan became Policy.

And this, my friend, is how sh *t happens.

Does anyone know how the preparation of the business plan is going and whether Mark Blower or anyone else is preparing it?

Don’t think any ordinary supporter is privy to the answer to your question. None of us have any importance in the eyes of the owner until,of course, he wants our money. I keep checking both supporters websites to glean any real news from anyone in the know, but increasingly get the impression there’s only a couple of informed people and they are not going to share anything with the likes of us.

No. He’s still around. He’s been absolutely pivotal in getting things moving in the right direction. If we survive the appeal and EFL are sensible there is a positive way forward.
