How low can we go?

I write this note in my capacity as a volunteer of Macclesfield Town Football Club, and would like to advise people that this evening I received information from a 100% kosher source that the team we will be fielding on Sunday is the YOUTH TEAM!!!

This source has also advised me that the players have NOT been paid as promised today and are absolutely seething at this utterly despicable way of ensuring the game goes ahead on Sunday.

Our club is now officially a laughing stock and I can no longer stand by and be a part of a system that is rotten to the core and which treats itís staff and players with utter disdain and disrespect. Now Mr AlKadhi is treating the FA Cup with utter disdain by fielding a team of kids and expecting punters to pay their hard earned money to witness such an insult to the tradition of the FA Cup and our great pedigree in it. As a consequence I will NOT undertake any voluntary roles whilst Amar AlKadhi is the majority shareholder of this club. Should Mr AlKadhi sell to a new owner such as the Sealeyís, I would happily resume my voluntary duties and I urge the following:

- The youth team DO NOT play this game and show solidarity with the senior players. Instead I urge them to join playing and non-playing staff, volunteers and fans in standing together OUTSIDE the ground AS ONE from 12.15p.m.

- Any home fans who have bought tickets demand an immediate refund of their money tomorrow morning.

- Other matchday volunteers refrain from any matchday duties until Mr AlKadhi has no involvement with this club whatsoever and are in SAFE AND LOCAL hands such as the Sealeyís.

- Anyone who reads this shares it wherever and whenever and let the BBC, SKY SPORTS and whoever wants to listen to / read about this shocking state of affairs.

I do not normally criticise anyone for attending matches but anybody that turns up on Sunday and in doing so totally disrespects the first team players fighting for their wages needs to seriously look at themselves .

I also notice that Joe Sealey intends going on Sunday and is urging others to do likewise.

Why are Mr and Mrs Joe Sealey referred to as "the Sealey's"? Some chap called Mike Minay on BBC Radio Manchester started it and many have followed suit. They should be referred to as "the Sealeys".

I enjoy pointing out that English Sam's one and only season ticket cost £40. The Alkadhis have "invested" £3'.6 million in the last 15 years.

No disrespect to anybody, team, staff or fans but I would think it very difficult to claim a refund because of "something you read on social media", let alone what is in the 'terms and conditions'. On that basis, I too will be attending, as at least I get something for my money, albeit not what I was expecting.

It's the only one you've have ever mentioned.

But even if you had bought a season ticket for the last 50 years at the current rate of circa £400 per season, your investment would total £20,000 which would amount to 0.55% of the Alkadhis investment.

Without your help Spoons , for which you sought no thanks and only a few people knew who you were, we would not be in League 2. Just when you think things can't get any worse.....

It would be shameful if the club are now expecting youth team players to dig us out of the hole we have excavated over years of financial mismanagement.

I will use the term 'the club', but I think we all know who is in the frame for all this.

What if one of our young lads were to sustain a serious injury being pitted against much bigger, and physically stronger opponents? [:(!]

I would rather we just handed the tie to Kingstonian (none of this is their fault), than continue with this charade.

I have copied the relevant rule taken from the FAís website. I doubt that senior players refusing to play due to non payment of wages would amount to satisfactory reason within the rules for withdrawing from the competition.

7. PROVISIONS FOR WITHDRAWING FROM THE COMPETITION
(a) Any Club intending to withdraw from the Competition must notify its intention to do so to The Association and the opposing Club, not less than eight days before the date fixed for playing the match.
(b) A Club failing to comply with this shall be reported to the Professional Game Board, who shall have power to compel such offending Club to pay the expenses incurred and to take such other action as the Professional Game Board considers appropriate.
(c) If a Club decides to withdraw from the Competition after a drawn, postponed or abandoned match, notice must be given to The Association and its opponent at the end of the match.
(d) A Club failing to give satisfactory reason for withdrawing from the Competition shall in addition to any other action considered appropriate not be allowed to enter the Competition in the following season and shall be liable to such fine as the Professional Game Board considers appropriate.
(e) Where a Club fails to fulfil any fixture the Professional Game Board shall take such action as it deems appropriate.

It is scandalous that the club cannot be honest with loyal fans who have bought cup tickets in good faith for this game, and tell them what the composition of the team on Sunday is likely to be.

This amounts to blatant deception in my book.

How about a statement from the manager/coach, or has he been gagged as well?

Do you have a full squad to choose from for the game on Sunday, DM?

I use the cheap season ticket to highlight the difference of investment between Mr Alkadhi and his most vocal and longest standing critic. I appreciate that there are those who have heard it before, but there are those who have not and I think it bears repetition when it comes to questions of investment in MTFC.

Ron's an absurdist, nothing wrong with that. The herd-following ****wits slagging him off probably think erudite is a type of glue.

Much more entertaining than the usual echo chamber of small town drivel on here.

And what he's getting at about the finances is correct, surely. People who I've spoken to who've had dealings with the owner confirm that he's an arrogant ****. Erm... welcome to football. They all are. "Getting rid" of the owner won't of itself solve the problem of not enough money. So march, petition, picket, whine, boycott away. Find ways to hang out and feel good about yourselves. It is so much **** in the wind.

What we need is (a) a foolish chump willing to make a bonfire of cash to keep a club running that can barely get a home gate of 1.5K on a match day. If picketing/ petitioning/ boycotting/ marching/ whining will get us that, then I'm in lads.

And (b) the kind of clever Dulwich Hamlet type marketing that will boost ticket sales and do for the club what the Picturedome and Treacle are doing for the town - bringing people in to spend.

However, many on here would hate that because the club wouldn't feel theirs any more. Cue the usual boring as **** whining about glory hunters (lol) and happy clappers. Many prefer the town and the club to be ***t.

Hope no-one on here has a problem with K's fans turning up. Most will have booked tickets for the game anyway and have paid out for coach, train and plane (in one case mentioned on here) and this was to have been our biggest game for 20 years. I don't think the K's presence is going to much harm you as most of the money from tickets is already in your owner's pocket although we have an ageing fan base so there will be some computer illiterates who might not have got tickets yet. Maybe a request to not buy any food etc at the ground would go down better?

There's a lot of sympathy for your situation on our forum (including some strong Trade Union opinions) not least because it almost exactly mirrors our own 20 years ago- Glory days in the Conference and two FA Trophy wins and FA Cup runs followed by administration due to overspending, bought by an asset stripper who sold the ground to AFC Wimbledon (making a profit of about £2m in just 12 months) and now left homeless with £1m to find a ground in outer London from the AFCW pay off while Chelsea Ladies have moved into our stadium. We're reliant on a deal with a local club (currently proposed with Corinthian-Casuals) where we get a shared stake in a ground in return for our blood money for ground improvements, or a deal with the council or a deal with a dodgy developer somewhere at the outskirts of our catchment area where in order to build on Green belt they get some

Oops- rambled on and too many words hence the post getting cut off...

My final point was that I don't think you should be too hard on the youth team as it saves your place in the FA Cup for next season. Also too much pressure for some young lads who might have potential careers seriously affected if they were to boycott.

Hoping you get a better outcome than we have had and at least it seems you have a potential buyer who will have the best interests of your club at heart.

Richard you will be welcomed in Macc its a great town and a great football club, current having a bit of mither. We have attended games at clubs going through the same pain, and always been welcomed. Most of the people expressing their views on here are die hard brilliant supporters of the club who frankly deserve better than the trouble we are in and will be the first going round with buckets to collect money for the players.

Hope the weather improves and you have a brilliant day out in Cheshire.

Yes. I would completely echo those sentiments.

This is what REAL football is all about.

We've experienced the same excitement as a non-league side drawn against an FL side in the FA Cup many times in our long history, although we are at a low ebb financially at the moment.

You have my sympathy having to travel 200 miles on a Sunday for an early kick off.

Obviously, I am hoping my team will progress, but I am sure Ks will give it their best shot.

May the better team win!
