I would like to take this opportunity to update you all that Amar and I spoke over the weekend where we discussed issues around the continued late payment of our brilliant playing and non playing staff and any update regarding any potential investment / takeovers. The line was not great; Amar’s voice was often muffled, and I continually had to clarify what he was saying, but here is the context of what he said as I understood it:

- Amar spoke of how he had sent money into accounts to be able to pay the staff but that there are issues with the banks which have led to money not being successfully transferred into the account from which players are paid. Amar also spoke of how he is working hard to resolve this matter this week, and that he fully recognised and empathised with the negative impact that these issues were having upon playing and non playing staff. Amar also spoke of ‘ongoing legal matters’ that precluded him from giving much more detailed information and that the English Football League (EFL) had assisted in the provision of a solicitor to help to move things forward as quickly and amicably as possible.

- Amar acknowledged that there had been an expression of interest in buying the football club but that he was not interested in what he described as ‘window shoppers’. When I enquired as to what he meant by this term, Amar indicated that he had requested the interested party to demonstrate proof of funds, and that this had not yet been forthcoming. I asked if Amar had named his price to the interested party, and was informed that the discussions had not yet reached the stage where such matters could be highlighted!

As I ended the discussion, I felt that the responses from Amar contained so many vagaries (particularly in relation to the bank problems / legal issues) that it left so many questions unanswered, and I feel sure many of my peers will feel the same. I also urge the interested party to make themselves more visible in terms of who they are, and of the credibility / genuineness of interest in our beloved football club. In the right hands, this wonderful little football club has so much potential to become a fantastic community football club which is integral to the fabric and future of our town.

Well done Andy for getting this much from AA even if it is a bit vague. It doesn't sound as though he is able to operate a UK bank account. I wonder why?

Rather ironic that he is requesting of others that they 'demonstrate proof of funds'.

"It doesn't sound as though he is able to operate a UK bank account. I wonder why?"

This wouldn't surprise me given AA's past legal entanglements.

macchiavelli - "Rather ironic that he is requesting of others that they 'demonstrate proof of funds'"

I agree it is ironic, but ultimately sensible, if everytime some timewaster offered to buy the club and didn't provide evidence they had the funds to execute then MTFC would expend many many thousands on advisors and legal advice just to have it fall through

'MTFC would expend many many thousands on advisors and legal advice just to have it fall through'

Where would these 'many thousands' come from, ob, when we haven't got 2 ha'pennies to rub together?

No idea where it would come from, but there will be some very large bills accruing in solicitors etc. in the sale of an asset like a football club (heck my bill for selling my house was £2195 + VAT, and that didn't involve loans, suppliers, staff, leases and ongoing commercial contracts).

The people providing the services would ultimately go into the queue of people waiting to be paid, however they are smart and will have structured their contracts so they become preferred creditors so will get their cash in the case of an insolvency

If I were a solicitor asked to do work for MTFC in their current circumstances, I would most definitely want to see the money up front!

In theory what he is saying is correct because if he is in Iraq it is virtually impossible to transfer funds with AML (Anti-Money-Laundering) initiatives to the UK. Of course the Macc Town funds themselves (however pitiful) should be based in the UK and therefore if he is transferring funds directly from Iraq every month then it has to be questioned why. On top of which, given he owns a house in London he personally would have a UK bank account anyway

Thanks for your efforts PB . Is issues with the banks the modern day equivelant of the cheques in the post.
I hope that I am wrong but the way things appear to be I cannot see the club being in existance by Christmas.

This is complete rubbish - Joe Sealey, is trying to purchase the club and has sent proof of funds to AA solicitor. He then asked for a substantial 6 figure sum to be put into escrow between solicitors which is utter madness when no price has been agreed! The guy wont name his price with 4 senior players refusing to play at the weekend and the players currently on strike!

The club is circa £750k in debt so the fact he has the audacity to ask for anything other than the debt being cleared is a joke. He has emptied the club of cash for years now and its time for him to GO immediately! The last thing we need is administration and a 15 point deduction as the football club is only a viable business whilst in the football league.

Ok so unless Joe Sealey has a bunch of cash hidden away, a look at companies house suggests that he and his associated companies don't generate a ton of profit.

I'd be askign for money in escrow too in order to commit him to a purchase - it's a pretty standard request in these sort of situations

He sold out for multi-millions a number of years ago so associated companies wont show a great deal as the cash is all personally held....the guy wont even entertain a conversation with him. Even the Chairman is on side as well as Daryl the manager who is a personal friend of Joes

Son of Les Sealey, former MU 'keeper.

I don't know the details. Not sure you can blame him for what happened to Bury because his bid didn't succeed.

What does the state that Bury are in now have to do with someone who didn't buy the club? Any deal probably became unviable when the extent of Bury's situation was discovered.

another ridiculous comment from a Macc fan not using common sense. We have a club on the brink of administration with an owner who will take us down - players on strike and many refusing to play incase they get injured.

Id support a local person buying the club and making back to a well run, sustainable business model any day!

AA out - complete waste of space and fraud

Appreciate the efforts of PB here however the replies are absolutely not surprising. We’ve seen these half-XXXXXXd responses from Amar before. It’s an absolute disgrace. He’s dragging our club into the ground.

Banking errors, admin errors, every other excuse under the sun. He must think we are stupid. We see your BS Amar.

AMAR OUT.

To have a young Cheshire based businessman at the helm of our club (with a commitment to developing an effective infrastructure at our club) is surely a model that we as fans should embrace as the way forward to safeguarding the long term future of our beloved Silkmen [^].

I urge Amar to communicate with Joe; move away from his position of viewing such interested parties as 'window shoppers' and see if they can come up with a resolution that provides mutual benefits to both parties, but must importantly Macclesfield Town Football Club [^].

Kind regards

PB [smi].

TalkSPORT asked him for comments but again no response apart from an e mail saying that he keeps a low profile with regards to the media. Good national exposure though. Things are improving in that respect.
