#THISISOURTOWNOURCLUB

Dear Amar

As I am sure you are aware, Macclesfield is a small market town in the East of Cheshire with a wonderful football club that bears its name and boasts a proud and illustrious history. This fantastic football club of ours has so often achieved way beyond what could be expected of it with it’s ‘against all odds’ mantra; aided and abetted by a small but intensely passionate and loyal fan-base who follow their club through thick and thin when so many more glamourous teams such as Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool are literally only a short distance away. With this in mind I ask that you read what is written below carefully, and provide me with a detailed and timely response.

Within the body of the email below, you responded to me three weeks ago with the assurance that a ‘comprehensive update’would be received within the next few days. Over three weeks have now passed and I am very disappointed to note that no such update has been provided. Instead all we as Silkmen supporters see, is more distressing news about players taking legal advice / looking to cancel playing contracts with us in respect of the continued late payment of wages, and the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) requesting that the English Football League (EFL) implement sanctions against our beloved club!!

In view of the information above, I write to you request that you provide an immediate and comprehensive update as to what your plans are going forward with regards to Macclesfield Town Football Club because in the eyes of the huge majority of Silkmen faithful we are hurtling towards the same fate that befell our friends and neighbours Bury F.C.

I therefore implore you to provide pertinent information about any imminent additional investment / takeover that could help to provide some crumbs of comfort to Silkmen players, non playing staff and of course the Silkmen fans, as to how this recent dreadful cycle of events can be reversed.

I would be more than happy to speak with you about this matter over the telephone and am available from 2.30 p.m. tomorrow should you wish to speak with me in this manner. I look forward to a prompt and detailed response.

Yours Sincerely

Andy Worth

Chairperson of the Silkmen Supporters Trust (SST)

In the early hours of Friday morning (1st November 2019), the above email was sent to Macclesfield Town Football Club’s majority shareholder Amar AlKadhi, where in my role as Chairman of the Silkmen Supporters Trust (SST), I requested a contemporary update as to strategies that our majority shareholder Amar AlKadhi was looking to implement as a means of reversing this distressing pattern of late payment of our fabulous playing and non-playing staff at Macclesfield Town Football Club. This email has also been forwarded to Supporters Direct. It does not take a genius to work out that consistent late payments to employees of any business is likely to have a detrimental impact upon them. Just like you and me, the playing and non-playing staff will have mortgages, rents and childcare payments to make. They will need to put food and drink on the table, pay their utility bills and petrol in their car to get to and from work. These consistently late payments will undoubtedly affect credit rating and would most certainly negatively affect their health and wellbeing. This is JUST NOT RIGHT!! The current management team and players (ably assisted by the brilliant non-playing staff) are doing an amazing job in emulating the ‘against all odds’ mantra that is so synonymous with our beloved club, and it appears to be the case that they are metaphorically slapped in the face for doing so. Sadly, I have received no response either verbally or via email from Amar and all I can currently visualise in my mind are that of Nero ‘fiddling while Rome burns.’ Putting aside the likely historical inaccuracies of such a statement, the context of occupying oneself with unimportant matters and neglecting priorities holds much kudos when considering the current climate surrounding our beloved club.

The SST have received information from a very reliable source that there is bone fide interest in buying the football club, and all indications are that this interested party would be able to provide evidence that they have funds in place to meet any due diligence requirements of the English Football League (EFL). It is heart-breaking to see our wonderful little club consistently having it’s name dragged through the mud, and IT NEEDS TO STOP!! I therefore urge you Amar to tell us your plans to rectify the disgraceful treatment of playing and non-playing staff; ‘come clean’ about any potential takeovers, and help to prevent another Bury Football Club. We as fans must also do our part in protecting our club from becoming another Bury. With this in mind, I implore that you contact the EFL and make your concerns known to your Member of Parliament (MP) David Rutley; write to the Macclesfield Express and liaise with Silk FM and Canalside Radio. Let the wider community know that we care about our wonderful football club that is an integral part of our community. If we don’t, then we are just as culpable in not safeguarding our club from ignominy. On Saturday afternoon of 2nd November 2019, I will be at Brunton Park, the home of Carlisle United Football Club, roaring on those fantastic lads playing for my beloved blues (NOT AMAR ALKADHI) and with this in mind, I say #THISISOURTOWNOURCLUB!

I wouldn't hold my breath on a positive response from him but all credit for trying as something has to be done.
Regarding contacting David Rutley , I am not sure of the situation, if we have an MP after Parliament closes next week until the General Election in December.
Some might say that he is conspicuous by his abscence now but that is down to opinion.

From the parliament.uk site...

'Parliament is dissolved 25 working days before a general election at a minute past midnight.

When Parliament is dissolved, every seat in the House of Commons becomes vacant. All business in the House comes to an end. MPs stop representing their constituencies.

There will be no MPs until after the general election.'

Why not contact Sky Sports with the letter and try and get a bit of media coverage. Perhaps see if a couple of players will come along. On a slow news day Sky do have an interest in this because of Bury. They managed to get that disgrace of a bloke (ironically living in Macc) who owned Bury on their station a couple of times

is this what we want?
Our owner backed into a corner and humiliation ?
After he kept us alive for years beyond his original intent?

Before yelling yes please engage the brain
And be careful what you wish for.
(Unless there’s a Plan B)

We should look at Plan B not kick the man who saved our bacon on more than one occasion and is is still paying out from his pocket while so called fans hold pathetic boycotts and stay away hang your heads

Anything to get rid. He's an absolutely cancerous individual who treats supporters with such arrogance and contempt. If things have to get a lot worse before they get better then so be it. I bet you've not step foot in the moss for a long time so have no idea how terrible the matchday experience has become. Largely down to a number of decisions he's made.

My take on this;
He’s the reason we’ve kept going in the past and I thank him for that but ,over the last year or so, it’s apparent that either he hasn’t the finances to continue properly or he thinks it’s acceptable to run it in the present shambolic way. Whichever it is, he needs to step aside or open it up to others.

Popped in to have a look at the request of a friend. Still seeing the same old rubbish spouted about the owners past dealings. Did anyone ever question his original motives for taking the reigns at Macc. Yes some of us did and look where we are now. At least many more now realise but unfortunately it’s now too late. The fan base still contributes to the demise of the club by supporting this charade.
Starting six divisions down would be more palatable than suffering this month on month destruction. Over to you I suppose.

English_sam, you are right this continual not knowing if MTFC will pay their bills each month and the continued griping on here are getting painful to endure.

I see it pretty black and white, he isn't going of his own free will, he can't be forced into Admin except by a court (and they seem content to keep giving him time to pay) so the only option is some form of buyout.

I do feel a little (and I still the word little) sorry for Amar, he can't win on here. When he doesn't pay the bills he gets (rightly) castigated for not paying. When he does all people do on here is gripe "It's only because of a decent gate, it will happen again".

All lower League football is funded by decent gate receipts why would we be any different.

At the end of the day Amar has held on too long, but he isn't the only villain here, anyone encouraging others not to go to games is also at fault (I'm not saying withholding your own attendance is an issue, you can decide how you spend your own cash, but encouraging others not to as well is a heinous crime against our club and contributes to the players not being paid).

Anyone who has encouraged others not to pay their 20 quid to go see Macc has contributed as much to ensuring the players have not been paid as Amar.

We will only get out of this by "ignoring the bad smell" and supporting the club regardless of its owner, that means going to the games, buying the food, trying to get a drink and wearing the shirt.

Do we want a club next year or not???

Oil boil , good post. I can only speak for myself. I perceive the custodian has having no interest in the actual well being of MTFC . There is a cancerous atmosphere that shrouds the place. The players , supporters , sponsors are treated with utter disdain.

For numerous reasons it appears that he cannot afford to sell up so again in my opinion I only see one way of removing him and that is to starve him of any income whatsoever. This will result in initial damage to the club but in the long term it will return once again to a welcoming friendly environment for people to watch local football.
Some will agree some won’t . I will leave it at that

Seems like there is some airbrushing of history here but it'd beyond doubt that the Alkadhi brothers were a major contributory factor in saving the club from going out of existence in 2006 when Eddie Furlong made a massive mess of the funding for the new stand. it is also a matter of record that the Alkadhis put several million into the club as loans, which they subsequently converted to share capital.

It is also a matter of fact that Alkadhi took £1.6m out of the club in the financial year 2017/18 to part repay company loans from Ramy Ltd and director loans. This is all visible in the accounts on Companies House. I assume this was in large part the prize money for winning the league. Whether it is in the best interests of the club for the owner to take so much cash out of the club is debatable, but it's his decision to make and arguably makes the club more attractive to potential buyers as it reduces the biggest debt considerably. Cynics may suggest he's taking his money out before the club enters administration and he'd have to join the queue of creditors like everyone else and only get a % of the loans back.

I would suggest AA is no longer bankrolling the club and indeed has taken out new loans, on behalf of the club, to part replace the funds he has taken out. Again, whether this is in the best interests of the club are debatable, but presumably these have been done to keep the club solvent.

So in summary, I think it's unfair to suggest AA is milking the club like a cash cow, more that he is taking his own (and Ramy Ltd's) money out and refinancing the debt. Whether his plan is then to sell the club or simply put it into administration and walk away is unknown. Regardless, it’s unsurprising he has become more and more reluctant to discuss this with the media. It’s also open to debate whether all the good he did for the club in the first half of his tenure is now outweighed by all the harm he is doing now…

Finally, there seems to be a misconception that the club entering administration forces Alkadhi out. It doesn’t, it simply means administrators would be in control of the club (not Alkadhi) and their sole objective would be to recoup as much money as possible for the creditors. That may or may not mean continuing to run the club as a going concern, but that really is a secondary consideration. Assuming the club continues though, Alkadhi would remain the owner, unless he chooses to sell.

Finally finally, for those of you wishing for the club to drop out of the league and start again, I suggest you go watch a match at Congleton first and then decide whether you want to stand in the cold and rain watching that standard of football every week…

Madkev, if, as you suggest, AA remains the owner if the club goes into admin, surely it will be in name only and the administrators will call the shots.

If what the administrators considered a viable offer came along for the club, are you saying that AA would still be in a position to block that?

from the Companies House website;

The administrator could decide to:

negotiate a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) so your company can keep trading

sell your business as a ‘going concern’ to another company - meaning your business can carry on, eg by keeping its clients, workforce or orders

sell your assets as part of a creditors’ voluntary liquidation, pay your creditors from any money raised and close your company

close your company if there’s nothing to sell

For as long as the company is in administration your administrator will run your business.

So in summary, no, i don't think AA could block it if it was a suitable offer and it preserved the club as a going concern. My point though was that going into administration does not automatically trigger a change of ownership.

In an administration sale, the fact that RAMY is owed so much money would be a problem.

They can sell the club without his permission, but they have to show they have done everything in their power to repay the loans, and here he could legally challenge their ability to sell rather than dissolve the company.

If we enter administration the 95% likely outcome is we dissolve completely and cease to exist

This means RAMY don't get paid, suppliers don't get paid, players don't get paid and staff don't get paid. - Seems a little nuclear in order to remove someone we don't like, who whilst very bad at paying on time is still in the end actually paying the employees (who will get close to nothing out of a dissolution)

To add a little more, asusming we go into Admin, they administrators have up to 8 weeks to determine a course of action, after which they creditors get to vote on if they wish that to happen.

"If the administration involves a sale of all or part of the company’s business, the proceeds (after the costs of the procedure) will be distributed to creditors in a statutory order of priority. There are specific rules regarding distributions however the general order is:

Secured creditors
Preferential creditors (employees)
Unsecured creditors (trade creditors, suppliers, customers, HMRC)
Shareholders or members"

Now Amar is a shareholder - so is at the bottom of the list in terms of voting through the administrators decision, however in conjunction with the HNW loan that we have outstanding, RAMY and HNW are our many secured creditors through the loans they have provided, so ultimately Amar gets the biggest voice in whether he accepts the Administrators proposals or not

This is starting to be like Brexit now. It is getting to the stage where everyone just wants an end to the interminable legal and financial wrangling while their beloved football club slides down the pan, even if it means bad news in the short and medium term.

Personally, I would be happy to continue watching a 'Congletonesque' MTFC play at whatever level they could achieve, if it meant that everyone involved were genuinely working for the good of the club.
