"THIS IS THE TIME THAT WE NEED TO SHOW CHARACTER"

Report Message | Email Message To A Friend | Reply To Message

No-one will show more character than Danny Whitaker - please, Sol, pick him.

Some players showed a lack of bottle today, some were not good enough.

This is the time to bring in Whits, Lloyd, Durrell, Evans (possibly at RB) along side those who really fought for the shirt today.

Sol is correct with that quote but incorrect with his other main point about how itís down to how we deal with key situations. That fact is we didnít create any chances and nor did we get in many positions where we could have created chances. Speculative crossed from wide and deep were about as good as it got. Meanwhile Bury could have and should scored a few more.
Thereís a lot to work on, particularly with our; passing, ball retention, not picking up enough 2nd balls. If we are still wanting to play the ball through the lines players have got to demand the ball and not hide like some did yesterday.
We offered very little out wide. Down the right Koby didnít get behind their backline once and nor did he seem to try to do so. Martis managed it in about 3 minutes. Was Cole told to leave a huge gap down the left? If that was the plan to see more of the ball it falled spectacularly.
Sol should have changed things a lot earlier. He should not have been happy at 1 down.
He needs to think very carefully about personnel, formation, and tactics for next week.

We wonít win many points playing like that Iím afraid.

Agree nothing on the left as Fitz had to,pass the ball inside then it went to Rose then he passed out to the right with his left all too slow and predictable.

I didn't expect anything at Bury yesterday and thought it would have been a perfect opportunity to give some game time to the likes of Durrell.
Next week as said I'd give as many as the old guard as possible a start.
Arthur and MayXXXXXX are not good enough, Cole is played out of position and LLoyd as a natural wide left player would be a far better option .

I too expected nothing from yesterday's game, except a gutsy performance, which we didn't get. We made it all too easy for Bury, who as the league table shows, are a decent side, but are not world beaters. Campbell needs to stop quoting from coaching manuals and accept what's in front of him. In my opinion, he's fielding a side that is not equipped for what he himself described in his post match interview as 'a dogfight,' a situation that the likes of Mayc**k and Arthur are not up for and MWH is still a kid learning his trade. I know we've been unlucky with injuries but seeing Durrell, Evans and Martis pounding up and down the touchline yesterday when the game was screaming out for their quality only added to the frustration. Now is not the time to be sticking to ideals of 'they may be ready to train, but not to play.' We have to start taking risks and shuffle the pack. Of the eight signings made in January (excluding Dawson), five have yet to start a game and the remaining three have started nine games between them, five of which have been by Reece Cole. If we are going down, please can it be having shown we've absolutely given it our best shot.

Agree very much with what's being said on here.Koby isn't a winger - never takes his man on the outside and his crosses are poor. Not seen much of Martis yet - obviously got pace. The one player who can definitely beat his man and usually deliver a good ball, is Durrell. He scored v Crawley and set up the winner v Exeter. He has to start getting games.

Smoky2,

I'm not one of the MayXXXXXX knockers (there are plenty), but I can't help but think that Danny, Durrell and Evans could contribute more than MayXXXXXX, Arthur and MWH over the next 11 games.
