Statement on the OS now.....

'Macclesfield Town are saddened to announce that First Team Manager Mark Yates is to leave the club.

Mark was brought in to the club during the summer and despite a plethora injuries to deal with, as well as an enormous amount of bad luck on occasions, fought gallantly in a bid to lift our league position to where we all want it to be.

We would like to thank Mark for his services to the club and wish him the very best of luck in his future career.

Assistant Managers Danny Whitaker and Neil Howarth will take charge of the First Team until a successor is appointed.'

Yeah I think Howarth has only stayed due to DW's lack of experience. He'll probs be gone once a new man comes in.

Right move by the club, we need to move on from MY as quickly as possible and look to the future.

A disastrous appointment looking back, the wrong man at the wrong club. Why he started from scratch with team selection, formation and style of play will always baffle and annoy me. Should have gone a couple of games ago, but at least the right decision has now finally been made. I wish him well, but was well out of his depth in the EFL.

Think LancsMacc sums it up there. We'll never know what might have been if he hadn't embarked on wholesale changes to a winning team.

If both Marks had shown the same loyalty to last years player as those players have since shown to the club we would not be adrift at the foot of the league. The money spent on 'replacement' players, which must have been discussed, has been largely wasted.

By "shame", I was reflecting on the dire situation the club finds itself in, not feeling sorry for MY!

No surprise and deserved, got off to a bad start with the fans with his team selections and style of football.
He did seem a nice bloke and was always willing to give an interview much as he was maligned , but as the interviews went on he looked more ill every time.
He was unlucky with injuries,Ponticelli Durrell and LLoyd in particular but he was aware of this early on and his loan signings should have been more aware of where cover was required.
Hopefully we can find a miracle worker and I would gladly sacrifice any entertainment to get a few wins on board for however long it takes to get us safe.

The correct decision has been taken. 12 games is over a quarter of a season and the right length of time to give all parties the chance to come to the right decision.
The major problem has been caused by the poor signings made before and as the season started. Possibly a few fewer players with more quality may have helped.
It will be very interesting to see if Danny Whitaker has what it takes to be a good manager.

Nobody likes seeing a man losing his job but MY has been given every chance when some realised a while ago that he just was not up to this kind of challenge.
I've just finished listening to Danny on the OS and he sounded his usual down to earth, solid self. The trouble is we now have a mountain to climb and results will have to improve quickly and dramatically. So we are in a "nothing To Lose" situation from now on which, in a way, helps relieve pressure on everyone.
All we have to do is avoid the drop, one place above on goal difference will do ! 👍 Go for it.

It had to happen, amd at least the club hierachy have acted now rather than it meandering on until a time where the new manager would have not have the time or the opportunity to remedy the situation!

Kind regards

PB [smi].

At least someone has balls.Trouble is we are faced with the same limitations on personnel with lack of quality and closure of windows.Could be a case of the King is dead long live the King! What calibre of manager are we likely to attract now?

The issues still remain. Loads of injuries. Players fitness and a goal scorer needed. We have been so unlucky this season and with a bit of luck we would be in 17th. Mark made bad calls on Saturday with subs but the players also let him down. Some of the conference winning team are not good enough too. They huff and puff up front but nobody stands out in my honest opinion.

He must have had some sort of clause in his contract as there is no way we could afford to pay of threes years of his contract.
