As the title suggests, please post your ideas to fix Macc's parlous predicament which is 4 points out of 36 and rooted to the foot of the table 5 points from safety, which ideas should not include the sacking of people.

Post away and enjoy!

1. We should agree on a team selection amongst ourselves and post it on this board.

2. Yatesy should adopt our team selection.

3. Yatesy should not make any tactical substitutions unless Macc is ahead by 4 (Four) clear goals.

We carry on as we are, under the parameters you have set. To suggest he is going to read this forum and select his team accordingly is never going to happen.

The first change will be when Evans, Whitaker and Durrell are fit. The second change will be the transfer window, where hopefully we can make some changes.

No! I think that is the point Ron is making in his own inimitable fashion, and that is the tragedy after what we achieved last season.

We are up the creek without a paddle, the boat is slowly sinking, and the water is full of starving crocodiles. 🐊🐊🐊

If you can come up with a valid reason to be optimistic about the rest of the season after what you have seen so far, I'll be happy to hear it.

I think after 10 games, Yates did select the available players that people on this board have been suggesting all season (with the exception of Taylor).

Next step is that he learns how to make substitutions.[;)][;)][;)]

The whole season is being decided on the last 10 minutes of games. Increase fitness coaching and possibly bring in a new coach for conditioning.

Get a sports psychologist in to get past the late game mental block and improve concentration.

Not a single clean sheet yet. First reason is individual mistakes like yesterday. Kelleher got away with 2 bad errors v Forest Green . Grimes has also been caught dithering on the ball eg Grimsby. If they can't do better ,drop them.Wouldl like to see Pearson given a go alongside Keith.
Second reason is our midfield that isn't giving the defence enough protection.Perhaps we should go to 1 upfront and play an extra man in midfield just to do a defensive job.

Okay so he is now choosing the right players in the main but it's how you set up these players up that counts. I think Macc man has a point about going to one up front especially from home and put an extra guy in midfield, that's what we did last year away and hit teams on the break. SJ never played Blisset, Wilson and Tyrone together. Start with clean sheets then build from there. Yates is too gun ho and then has to chase the game when the opposition score a goal. Also keeps Wilson fresh as an impact player! 😉

Before we appointed a manager, several people thought Danny W would do the job well. I was one of them, but first by 'learning his trade' alongside an experienced manager, which is what we then appeared to get.
As this hasn't quite worked out, could/should Danny now play a bigger role in the team's management, especially now he is injured?
As a proven footballer of quality, he would have the respect of the players, and certainly the crowd, which MY now seems to have lost completely.
I know Danny coaches schools' football, and that this is nothing much like League 2, but JA stepped up from youth team manager and really did seem to make 'ordinary' players into 'silk purses'.
Danny could have the same gift. I hope so......4 points with a quarter of the season gone would give us 16 by April at this rate!
As a season ticket holder, I could just about justify that loss of money to myself, but not the waste of time and weekly disappointment on that form. It would be like going back to the same restaurant for a fortnightly dose of food poisoning! I gave up going to City years ago for the same reasons, and discovered The Silkmen - and with no regrets ..... (so far).

Yes agree Pearson would probably be steadier in there with KL. shame we have to keep, pointing all this out when we have an experienced manager. And DW would have respect and credibility as manager of sorts much as JA did from that lower age group background. Could never see is dissing him when he is a virtual god.

Right- no sackings mm.

Ok
1. Send Mr Yates on gardening leave.
2. Put DW and NH in temporary charge.
3. Restore Taylor- the young lad is having a confidence crisis.
4. Sort the fitness of the team out so what we lack in craft and guile we can make up in workrate and make teams work for the points.
5. Restore Pearson either at centre back or give him a go in the holding midfield role.
6. Organise a players night out with the view to toasting ďrelegation ď with the idea of improving the psychology of the team and encouraging the team to go out and play without fear and play with pride and passion.
This idea isnít a new one. I once heard the great Danny Blanchflower talking about doing this in his time at Aston Villa who were similarly adrift. It worked and allowed the team to play without fear of relegation as thatís what everyone expected to happen. The result was they got a couple of results, confidence improved and Villa eventually avoided relegation.

7. Restore all last seasonís team to the starting line up.
8. Restore Jarid to captaincy. As much as I rate Fitz I donít feel heís a natural leader.

Yes Joe would agree with all that. Maybe though Wilson and Marsh aren't best together as one of them needs to make an impact although no Durrell so options are limited for time being.

We need more movement from Marsh and Wilson. They are static. Mark Yates made a bad call with the subs bringing off Blissett and Arthur - which were playing well. So was the defence. There is all to play for - yesterday was a mistake. We need more bite in midfield too and a loan striker in and loan out Smith for a month. We need five points in next nine or else Mark must go.

Talking of fitness, I notice we have a black lad in (usually) a black track suit who puts the team through their paces before the kick off and before the resumption of play at half time. Who is he?

We did not have this last season and perhaps our players are cream crackered before a ball has been kicked.

I've thought since the pre-season friendlies that our best back 4 would be:
Hodgkiss, Pearson, Lowe, Fitzpatrick
and I've suggested it in several threads.
Pearson did OK at right back, but is (I believe a centre back).

Does anyone disagree with trying this back 4? combination?

O'Hara has brought off some remarkable reaction saves, but he's needed to because he's not going out & commanding his area & clearing danger in advance. I would like Rhys Taylor to be given a chance, but otherwise O'Hara needs to learn this skill.

Starting 4-5-1 away from home would help to strengthen the defence & midfeld & keep us in games longer. And Blissett has the best strength & hold-up skills for the role.

Change to 4-4-2 in the last third (bringing on Wilson) if we're behind or drawing.

Midfield is the big problem with the current injury list and the small number of left footed players - sign/loan one if we can (Rose might be OK, but he is 36).

Evans was doing well in the midfield holding role and MayXXXXXX is improving in that area.

Otherwise, choose the team for Friday night.
Then rest as many of that team as possible on Tuesday night (especially Fitzpatrick, Blissett, Lowe, Marsh, Wilson).
