With regards to England's game against Belgium?

TBH I don't give a flying fig, and will be watching Ashton versus Macclefield [^].

IMHO it is a meaningless game because if you are 3rd or 4th who will give a stuff in years to come?

Kind regards

PB [smi].

It will be a repeat of our final group match...ie: Belgium reserves v England reserves. I suspect the result will be the same as well. Well 4th out of 32 isn't too bad.

Getting to the Semis was better than I expected before the comp started, but that doesn't do much to ease the pain. [V]

Not the remotest interest in who finishes 3rd or 4th. I would think the players just want a break now before the domestic season starts again.

(Only about 11 million Belgians!).

If you 'can't be bothered' after the last few weeks I'm not sure how you ever bear watching sport.

No doubt you'll quickly lose interest in Macc if we're not winning every game in the EFL. Except for posting your personal offence at the state of the world here, of course.

Making the two losing semifinalists play this game shows a lack of sensitivity but it's something that they've always done. One thing nobody seems to have mentioned, it's a chance for Kane to confirm the golden boot , so I hope he gets some time in the game.Lukaku is 2 goals behind so wonder if he will also play ?

I don't think Kane will play on Saturday, to my mind it's debatable whether he should have played last night, as he wasn't fit and looked to be carrying a knock.
As regards Metz comments about population, ridiculous, By his theory USA China and Russia would be competing for every World Cup.It's 11 v 11 and Croatia have some very talented footballers.

If there is a graph correlating population against FIFA rankings then Iceland would provide the greatest deviation from the line by a country mile.

Croatia are handy but also very dirty and should have been punished for early fouls and were in our faces (and legs) throughout. We lost control in the second half and think the young ones will have learnt some lessons for the future. Been disappointed by the amount of gamesmanship and physicality in this WC and the footballing teams have gone out too early.

1207: I can bear watching sport and nearly 50 years of watching Macc man & boy definitely indicates that I don't lose interest if things go pear shaped. In fact I have said openly to a number of people that even if we finish 22nd next season, I would be delighted [8D].

I definitely didn't expect England to get to the semi final before the tournament but the way that it opened up for us was fab. However from the second half onward we were very poor, and we went out with a whimper which was very disappointing.

So many big name players like Kane, Alli Sterling (as usual) were shocking, and for me the main benefits of this tournament was the emergence of Pickford, Trippier & Maguire [^][:D].

Kind regards

Really proud of this team , most likeabe players / manager we have had in a long time back in 1990 / 1996 when we got to the semis we had a certain player called gazza that was all what was missing from this team a creative player who could do something special crotia france and belguim all have this sort of player .
The next 2 world cups will be even harder to play in because of the heat, we wont be able to play at such a high tempo and will require players who can hold the ball for longer in midfield , hopefully some players can be introdcued from the under 17/19 who have won the world cups at there level.

Disappointed with the manager. He's done EXACTLY the same as other managers, hang on to the same players and hope they produce. If it's not happeneing, no matter WHO THEY ARE, they should be removed. Kane should not have started, Lofus should have been in his position. Stirling, very busy but again produced blugger all. Ali, leg strapped up from the off, well that doesn't look great, and did nowt. Young? completely outclassed. Rose should have been on. Vardy should have been thrown on once we were one up, to exploit the HUGE gaps in the Croatian set up. Everything said. THREE easy chances were missed in the first half and THAT says it all.

Actually PB, I was referring to Metz's comment, which I was not precise about. Personally, I agree in the sense of not really being 'bothered' about the outcome on Saturday.

His suggestion was that he 'couldn't be bothered' in the wider sense because it's ultimately 'same old'. This was, of course, after his numerous tantrums re Macc over the years, followed by hypocritical bandwagon jumping as we competed for the title, no doubt followed by more tantrums as soon as there's a tough patch.

And here, right on cue, is CF with his 20/20 hindsight. Dissecting our abject failure at the World Cup.

Of course, if we'd slung Saturday's goalscorer, our most threatening attacker and the golden boot winner we'd have absolutely smashed them.

Good one mate.[^]

My opinion amongst others was that last night we were out played in the second half and the most of extra time.nothing has changed we made hard work of Tunisia, beat Panama a side equalivent to MTFC,lost to a first class Belgium,ok with half the regulars, made hard work of the scorpion kickers, and by a poor below average Swedish side.four players last night who deserved credit Pickford, stones Maguire, sterling tripier, all the rest no..Kane was poor again..like I say I'm not the only one with this opinion I've spoke to others who had far more negative opinions than mine..they may come good as time goes on with experience maybe they won't we shall see...[rle]

I agree we were outplayed last night by a better side, still hurts just because of how close we came to a World Cup Final.

Over the past few weeks we've all seen the pubs packed out, fan parks heaving, local businesses making the most of the extra income, met up with friends we've not seen for a long time and has brought great enjoyment for the majority of people.

I agree we've scraped our way through but what this team have done off the pitch...Getting the country to come together has been amazing.

Forget the Champions League, Europa League Premiere League.

Follow Macc and England
