Has hung up his boots and joined SJA at Shrewsbury as a first team coach.

Probably the right move for him at this point in his career.

Will rightly go down as a legend for MTFC. All the very best of luck George, hope to see you around the Moss again soon.

I too wish Pilks all the very best in his new role and thank him for his excellent contribution during his time at Macc - we're going to miss him. Now seems vital that we can retain the services of Lowe IMHO.

Ditto. A solid citizen. And as one of the posters has already said, a multiplier, someone who makes those around him play better.

This is a rare gift - and something that I also thought Hancox had a little bit of. We are going to need a couple of new signings to step up in this regard.

Pilks was a fantastic servant to the club and a real fans favourite. I wish him every happiness for the future which he fully deserves. A great bloke and a very good footballer [8D][:D].

Kindest regards

PB[smi].

I endorse all that has been written about George, you always felt safe in the knowledge that he was in defence.
The amount of in house trophies he won shows his quality.

One of those players that when he saw you at a game in some far flung part of the country would always nod or say hello. Always gave 100% and a really top player for us. Bon voyage George - and thanks for the memories

With Kennedy and Pilks gone will Keith Lowe stay??????? or do we have a totally new cebtral defensive pair?

No one deserves the promotion more than Pilks. Stayed year on year, was given the ultimate reward with a trophy

There is a great interview with Pilks on the Official Site. If this indicates the new quality, on the Site, then it will be worth following this season.[^]

George P has been one of the best for MTFC, and I wish him well in his new career.

We can't afford to dwell on the past however. In 5 short weeks on Saturday, we will be travelling to Swindon for a very tough L2 opener.

We need to be getting new defensive partnerships in place ASAP now, and giving them time to build fitness and tactical awareness ready for the new season.

My feeling is that L2 will be much less forgiving of the 'No worries. We'll get some trialists in, and sort it out at the last minute', approach.

In Saint Mark, we will have to trust! 😁

Must admit I see the chances of Mr Blower being canonised as fairly slim! I do get the impression there are some who would like to fire one (with 3 Ns), in his direction though.😁
