Good luck to SJA in his new venture,he deserves a chance, but I can't help thinking that Shrewsbury have taken a gamble on Askey. No experience of managing in the EFL, let alone League 1.They will expect the play-offs next season as a minimum, anything lower and who knows?

We have a chance now to appoint an experienced man. Dickov, Sheridan, Curle, Tisdale, all of these appeal to me.

Obviously,I can't thank SJA enough in getting us back into the League. If we hadn't have achieved it I think we would have seen the break-up of the club, with Askey departing and all the players going too. But we are an EFL club once more and a more attractive proposition for any manager of credibility among the lower leagues. Now is the chance for AA to show us any ambition and appoint one of these experienced men.

Over to you AA and MB...

John must never be forgotten and hopefully the John Askey terrace will not be renamed, But what has happened has happened and we must look to the future.
Eleven years ago we had a manager leave a few weeks before the start of the season and sadly Keith left us under tragic circumstances.
Both times the club rallied under the against all odds mentality and instead of feeling sorry for ourselves must find the same resolve.
It is now up to the powers that be to appoint a manager ASAP and give him the tools to do the job.

Wasn't for long was it, and certainly not in league 1. Shrewsbury fans will want the play offs at least.

It's a great many be for John personally, but a huge step up for him. Will be interesting to see how he gets on. I'd be very very surprised if he had a book of players he knows who are good enough for that level, as it was going to be interesting to see whether he could persuade good enough players to come to us.

Best of luck and thank you Sir John.

The chairman has said a lot of applications have been received and they will all be considered, but the club will move quickly. Letís hope so , then we can start talking about the new manager instead of the old one . He will need all our support taking Macc into the football league - it will be a hard job .( he will know that ,and I bet JA knew it too )
