Have sacked their managers. I wonder if Askey is on their list- could offer big wages and plenty of money behind them.

My worry is that John will be very much on their radar [:O].

The legendary Mr Ferguson (please get well soon Fergie [^]) has been a regular visitor to the Moss Rose over the last season or so and will have seen and I am sure advised his former stars at Salford of the attarctive style of play that John adopts.

They have bags of money and who wouldn't be flattered to work alongside the United legends that run the club?

Worrying times ahead methinks [rle].

Kindest regards

PB [smi].

Irreconcilable differences between the joint managers and the owners the reason for their departure. Contract length seems to be an issue.
Three promotions in four seasons highly impressive but they have had the most money in each of those and do seem to just shout louder when losing as the only tactic. Theyíll wind up in conf north again. Sir John could easily be interviewed for the vacancy.

Oh come on now! Why would Askey seriously consider them? He is Macc Town through and through and would not now step back from managing Macc in League 2 for another season in the National League. He turned down overtures from Grimsby, and only if he is only interested in money, would he be interested in Salford???

If he's given a poor budget, then that is the only way it could happen. Over to Amar and Mr. Blower.

I'm just thinking, the prospect of working under the class of 92 must be an attractive proposition. A club on the up with a very large budget and a club regularly in the spot light in the media. Coupled by fact that it's local for Askey- also he'll get a massive wage hike and doesn't get on with our owner. Sir Alex Ferguson is a fan... the list goes on.

I remember JA also mentioned that if he could get us promoted, it would be his job done here. I'd hate to see him go but I can see it happening.

As beartowner has noted, SJA has been working relentlessly to get Macc into the EFL, and to get an opportunity to manage there again. As with the previous links to the Wrexham job, would he really consider turning his back on that for another season in the National League?

Fola notes that "...working under the class of 92 must be an attractive proposition...", but surely his next point is the main one "...a very large budget...".

What could Sir John learn from the 'class of 92' from a managerial perspective - how to fail in Spain, or how to be eased out of your job having won umpteen titles? That doesn't seem to be a particularly "attractive proposition".

There are various mentions of Sir Alex Ferguson's potential input, for whom (as others have noted) I wish a speedy recovery, but if he's got that much influence maybe he'd be better off trying to give his son Darren "a leg up".

Another alternative for them could be to leave it a couple of weeks, and if Tranmere see off Boreham Wood in the Play Off final, then maybe Mellon would step down again, as he did from Shrewsbury when he returned to Rovers?

He'd be a fool to step back to the NL. There will be strong competition next season with Leyton Orient, Hartlepool, Barnet, Chesterfield and others who will be up there challenging. Salford's new manager will get one season to get promotion. He could be out by Christmas if not challenging. By contrast any Macc manager would just have to stay in the EFL. If Askey wants to take that risk then good luck to him. He'll need it!

When youíve been with Macclesfield for 35 years Iím doubtful a team like Salford is the one John has been waiting for. If we didnít get promoted this season Iím sure he might be looking elsewhere but John might never ever get the chance to manage in the football league again. Thereís four promotion places in League 2. Accrington did it, why canít we?

Chris Casper, ex class of 92 was put on the coaching staff last season and I wouldn't be surprised to se him get the job.

Chris Caspar is the Director of Football. So not just on the coaching staff. He's running the recruitment, youth systems and so on. Probably has a say in appointing the manager too. If not going for it himself.

This could be put to bed quickly when / if Mr Alkadhi does the right thing. The best chance of staying in the Football League longer than one season is with John Askey steering the ship.

Now they are just a pub team wi money! Only have to see the documentary on how they all behave to thank the stars we don't have a bunch like that. The (ex)managers were the pits but the players not much better at behaving and remind me of bunch of Sunday morning moaners with hangovers. How do the Class of 92 square with those type of characters?

The ex-managers are certainly not the pits when it comes to getting success. You might not like their style but they certainly achieved results. Three promotions is certainly not to be sneezed at and I personally take my hat off to them.

The most important thing is that they have not got JA as their manager. Players will come and go, I would like Whitehead to stay, but if he has been offered silly money then good luck to him.
