Congratulations Tranmere. Their tactic of resting players once they couldn't catch us has paid off:So far.[^]

Don’t get the Tranmere love-in on here. All I’ve heard from them this season is how they’re too big for this “tin-pot” league. They seem to feel they’ve got some god given right to get back in the FL and are constantly referring to our lack of fans as if that has anything to do with deserved success. Personally I won’t shed a tear if their pub team stays down for another season or two.

Rather have Tranny than Ebbscheat who are a despicable outfit.

Luciani , so you'd rather have Borehamwood or Sutton who will both bring approx 100 visitors next season and is over 3 hours to get to.
Alternatively we could get Tranmere who will bring around 1,000 and is about an hours travel.
Whatever.

Hehehehe, never mind the gates, I'm in Team Luciani. An equal mix of flair and outright gaming & cheating, Tranmere will have their day no doubt. The wallet usually speaks louder than the never say die spirit that got us up.

For the next season or two (or three or even four) I'd be pleased to see the Too-Big-for-the-Conference-wallahs remain belowdecks.

I'm a bit out the loop. Genuine question. Why do we refer to ebbsfleat as ebbscheat? Is it just the 2-2 this season or is it something historical?

Exile, about 20 years ago Ebbscheat notoriously conned the Football Foundation out of nearly £200,000 to build a stand, hence the name.

It has nothing to do with the Blissett/Winfield contretemps, as centre-forwards and centre-halves have been hacking each other to pieces since the dawn of the game.

Ron, you'll have to enlighten me here.

Were the circumstances at Ebbsfleet totally different to when we were in deep trouble after building the McAlpine stand? I thought the powers that be determined then that we accessed grants to which we were not entitled.

On the subject of more away support coming here from Tranmere, you would think that was a given.

Obviously, how well the respective teams are doing, weather, Saturday afternoon or weeknight match will all have a bearing on how many attend, but this season, the home attendance figures were...

Ebbsfleet 1635
Tranmere 1709

Tranmere brought 629 compared to Ebbsfleet's 105 though

That illustrates how volatile the home support can be then. 1530 against Ebbsfleet, and only 1080 against Tranmere.

I fully expect average home gates to rise significantly next season, but it is absolutely vital that we stay competitive for as long as possible to get our home fans through the gates.

I don't understand the comments against Tanmere. I think we have seen a couple of their fans come on here with a bit of humility after we beat them 4-1, and the number who reacted to Mitch Hancox was quite small - if it had been the other way round, there would have been a few of our fans reacting.

So I would suggest we have no bad history with them. its a better away trip than Ebbs, BHW or Sutton, and we should welcome the extra 500-1000 away fans

Down to Tranmere or Boreham Wood to join us in League Two next season.

Never thought I'd say that I'm disappointed that Sutton's brand of non-football won't be joining us in League 2. And I'm not disappointed. Imagine having a 3G or 4G pitch and playing that scarcely watchable rubbish.

That said, Tranmere will bring more fans but I'd be more confident that we'd finish ahead of Boreham Wood next year...

Thanks Ron.

I think borehamwood's pace up front will catch tranmere out at Wembley. So we could have a football league team next season with an average crowd of less than 1000 😞
