My selection (but not necessarily the one I'd expect):

Jalal
Hodgkiss Pilkington Lowe Fitzpatrick
Durrel Whitaker Baba Whitehead Hancox
Wilson

Alternatively put Hancox in the middle and bring Lloyd in on the left (though I have to say I rate Baba and I think this kind of game is screaming out for someone who is tough but can put their foot on the ball and help us to play.

Can you drop two strikers who scored at the weekend?

Should you?

Big call but I think Wilson gets the nod as the guy most likely to nick one in a moment of opportunism.

Looked a bit direct First half on Saturday and appeared that we forgot that we are a footballing side. Bliss is clearly a good player and provides us with a different threat but we shouldnít start lumping it up if he plays from the start. We are the best footballing side in the league and Iíd like to think that ethos continues. Dannyís in the middle with Mitch again who was top draw for me

With heavy uneven pitches, which tend to be the norm in January and February, it is not conducive to a passing and dribbling game. That is why we have tended to fall away after Christmas and why having a target man up front and playing long balls can be more effective at times.

Wilson doesnít play any more. No idea why. Bliss should play for his aerial ability. Wilson has double the amount of goals of anyone else. For mine thatís our best potential partnership.

We have subs to deal with eventualities so would keep the side and take it to them. Lloyd to me has gone off the boil although it may be tempting to field a destroyer in midfield.

If it's two up front then one has to be Marsh. He might be the least glamorous of our strikers but his work rate, ability to play between the lines and movement in the channels helps counterbalance the missing man in midfield.

I think one of HanXXXXXX/Baba should start as part of a three though - learn from the Fylde debacle and hang tough!

If Durrell and Hancox had had their 'shooting boots' on we'd have had a bagful of goals against Guisley.
I'd start the same team against Aldershot.
BUT in John I trust.[^]

My thoughts on this:

With the big man Blisset it was all too easy to float a ball up to his head. This is not us. Our success this season has not come from that style.
Itís not as if Blisset was particularly good in the air either!

Letís get back to the Wilson & Marsh partnership and pass teams to death. Marsh finds pockets of space between the lines incredibly well, linking up midfield & attack. Blisset is a last option from the bench, not a starter. John donít turn into an arcetypal non-league hoofball outfit.

Jalal
Hodkiss Lowe pilks fitzpatrick
Durrell Whitehead Whitaker Hancox
Marsh
Wilson

Stay silky [fb]

Have to say I thought Blissett was excellent against Guiseley and was the choice of 2 posters for MOM. The more he plays, the better his contribution will be.

I'm not saying we change our style completely, but JA signed the big man for a reason, and, for me, the decision was fully vindicated last Saturday.

Silky...you seem to be ignoring the point that our passing and dribbling game is less able to be enacted on a heavy and uneven pitch, which is why we have to modify our style of play to some extent. Like Macch I also think Blisset was worth his place and should play again but possibly the state of the pitch at Aldershot should be a consideration.

I have to disagree with the OP.

We have to play direct against Aldershot with Blisset up top. Our best chances last week came from playing directly, none of this so called tika-taka football.

Play directly and weíll cause trouble, no question.

Yours,

Mr G Hoddle

Should be a good pitch for us to play on the floor. It's either arsenal or Chelsea that look after it i think.

Our away form is outstanding, but largely based on 4-5-1. For the Aldershot game, I think JA may go for either Lloyd (if fit) or Baba in the midfield, with any one of Wilson, Marsh or Blissett up front
