‘They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them'
The heartbreaking events of Friday 17th July 2015 at 9.10a.m. will be indelibly etched into the hearts and minds of the inhabitants of the tiny village of Bosley; a village so close to the Moss Rose. This normally tranquil little outpost on the outskirts of Macclesfield was devastated by a massive explosion at Bosley Wood Mill subsequently creating ‘a scene of devastation' and ‘something from a horror movie' ultimately, and leading to the tragic loss of precious lives from our local community. It has also resulted in the need for intensive specialist care for others affected by the tragedy that unfolded. The impact of such tragedy will be forever felt by family, friends and the local community of Bosley and it is great to see that our little club; an integral element of this town of ours has demonstrated a commitment to lending its support to those so deeply affected by this awful event.
On Sunday September 6th 2015, Macclesfield Town Football Club will be hosting a charity football match entitled BOSLEY WOOD TREATMENT MEMORIAL FOOTBALL MATCH (which has been promoted on BBC Radio Manchester today at 8:45am) to help raise funds to support those who have been affected by this nightmare scenario. The gates will open at 1p.m. and kick off is at 2pm. The cost is £5 for adults and children's entry is free when accompanied by an adult with loads of fantastic gifts available from a raffle and a cake stall will also be selling some delicious goodies!! Silkmen legends John Askey, Efe Sodje & Rae Ingram are already signed up with Paul Dickov and Shaun Goater (ex Manchester City), Steve Watson (ex Newcastle United & Everton) and David Thompson (ex Liverpool) with many more names from the world of celebrity expected to be announced shortly. Huge thanks must also go to Chrome Motors for supplying the Bosley United kits and to B&Q for the buckets in which donations can be made around the club to donate whatever money they can that will really make a massive difference!!
At the Stockport County game on the evening of Friday 24th July 2015, six people including a survivor of this awful tragedy Richard Wills will be there to collect donations towards the charity so please give generously.
