Veteran Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher is set to secure his future at Anfield for a further three years.

The 32-year-old has played at Liverpool for his entire career and will be rewarded this weekend with a testimonial against Everton.

It now appears that he will also soon sign a new three-year contract with the club.

Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez had not given Carragher any indication of a new contract, despite approaching the final year of his previous deal.

Now, it appears that Roy Hodgson is keen to keep hold of Carragher, who surprisingly returned to the international stage during the World Cup.

According to the Kop Chat, Carragher said, “We'll come up with something on the contract situation in the next week or two.”
