Three historical away-days against London clubs

Unfortunately - not too many against the big London clubs, however out of hundreds of Leicester away games, these three stick in the memory of all who travelled down by coach, train or car.

Important away wins in front of amazing travelling support....

1. FULHAM
2. ORIENT
3. QPR

Were you there?

2 far better Orient aways.
1. 1980 when we clinched the Div 2 title under Jock - Larry May.
Last game of the season.
2. Sept 2008 one of the best ever Roofer away days thanks to Hackers & Co.

Charlton 0 Leicester City 5 (Fern 2, Ally Brown, Paul Matthews, Glover) , 1970.
One of their lot pulled a silly looking toy gun on Big Ada in the home end. Ada just stomach bumped the tvat back down the terracing and we all pi55ed ourselves laughing. Then a mob followed us down the street afterwards so we raided the Hot Roast Chestnut Cart and bombarded 'em with bags of the stuff. The cart got emptied in no time.
They weren't feckin' expecting that![smi]

How could I forget beating Palace at Wembley in the play-offs final

All getting ready for penalties at 0-0 with 2 mins left

Spider K our 8 ft 3" goalie warming up on the sidelines, then Steve Claridge blasts it cleanly into the top corner to send the 30,000 travelling Leicester fans delirious

I had come half way round the world to be at that game in London's mecca of football, and to see 'Super Stevie Claridge' score a last minute winner to send LCFC to the Premier League...… amazing highlight for all City fans

Here’s three more for you.

Charlton away at Upton Park in 1992 was a great away day with thousands of travellers from Leicester. It would have been far better had we won that day, a win and we would have finished in the top two.

Brentford away this season was pretty decent, I managed a good drink in each of the four pubs and drank in the history of another old stadium soon to be flattened.

Finally Palace in 2016 when we all finally came together to sing “and now you’re gonna believe us we’re gonna win the league” for what seemed like hours.

Wombat, Are you sure that you are really a Leicester fan? I'm pretty sure that I could get a thousand Leicester fans in a room and a thousand would know that Leicester and Palace were drawing 1-1 prior to Claridge's winner

"Blasts it cleanly"?????
Even Claridge in his post match interview admitted he shinned it.
He changed his story years later but him shinning it completely fooled their keeper who was rooted to the ground.

Come on Micky...… in Greta Thunberg voice, "how dare you"!

I went home & away from the early 70's to late 80's when I emigrated to Canada - probably attended 500-600 Leicester games

Going to Wembley for the Palace play-offs Final cost me about 5 grand..... a pretty big investment for a regular geezer, who may or not be a genuine fan?.

Just coz I am an old geezer with a bad memory, should have nothing to do with being a fan or not.

0-0, 1-1 doesn't matter......game was heading to penalties and the explosion of relief when the ball hit the back of the net right in front of the Leicester fans, was unbelievable.

Any road, arsenal away '75 in the FA Cup was a bit tasty in the Clock End. Didn't expect to get out without getting stabbed.
