The Warriors or Clockwork Orange?

They showed 1979's The Warriors on TV last night.... took me right back to that era.

It was a scary concept of being stuck miles from home, with enemy gangs trying to catch you & do some serious harm (sounds like a typical LCFC away-day on a Saturday-LOL)

I was a bit too young and got denied entry to see Clockwork Orange at the cinema, so had to catch it on video a few years later.

Pete Townsend milked the white boiler-suit & Doc Martens look for years after the film & terrace culture made it famous.

I watched both again recently. Found Warriors very dated but Clockwork Orange continues to be deeply disturbing and a magnificent watch.

Remember all the hype about Stanley Kubrick's "2001 - a space odyssey" at the time.

Got into that one as a young lad, and spent three hours trying to work out WTF was going on?

Came on TV last week, and gave it another try - beautiful cinematography in outer-space, but everything else (story-line, characters, etc), I was still asking WTF is going on?

Wanderers and Warriors maybe a closer comparison?

Clockwork Orange a much deeper picture.

All good films anyway.

CO was a double first for me:

- first 'X' film I saw
- first date

Think i was 15 approaching 16 and the venue was the cinema on Belgrave Gate

Not long after saw Bowie at De Mont where some of the music ws played before he came on stage (if my memory is accurate)

A great film and particularly as I had the hots for Adrienne Corri at the time

I'm jealous Glimmer.... saw some great bands at DeMont but Bowie in the 70's would have been at a different level

Taking a date to the cinema was pretty cool back then, especially an X film. What was the next one, "Emmanuel"?

Chocolate Orange. To get it to open, Terrys asked you to tap it gently on the top with a bat borrowed from the Baseball Furies.
