What about the midfielder who single handedly kept us up. As well as picking the team, choosing tactics & making the tea( probably).

He's magic you knooooowwww

I thought that Trevor Hebberd looked a decent player on his short loan to us from Southampton in 1981. He only played a handful of games scoring one goal. Don't know if we were ever looking to sign him permanently but shortly after he signed for Oxford United and had great success there. Third Division and Championship titles as they rose to the Top Division and a League Cup winners medal in 1986. 260 games and 37 goals from midfield. Relegated with them in 1988 and was transferred to Derby!

Micky, remember we had Paul Moran on loan from Spurs at the same time as Campbell. He was a good player too and they made 9 starts together as our strike force.
Wayne Clarke had just left, Lee Glover didn't really work and a young Paul Kitson got his first games either side of the Campbell/Moran loans spell!

I remember Kevin Campbell being awesome but wasn’t it a 10 game loan?

We came back from 2 nil down with him to beat Portsmouth at theirs 3-2.

He also ran Newcastle ragged when we lost to the, 5-4 at theirs.

Going back to Kendal's original post, I think Man City won the title that year. If a film of the game exists, our current manager should be made to watch it in a locked room for a few hours to learn what a team can do if it is given belief that it can beat anyone. Not give up because they are facing a "big team". I never felt that when they won the title under Claudio they were ever intimidated by anyone.

That year we won the title I always thought other teams worried about us and we just played our game.

But not just Ngolo .... Mahrez played a massive part that Man City game he pulled them apart at times, that's probably what convinced them to buy him.
