Or maybe the reaction to Covid-19, will lead us to remember we have one small planet to live on. Our children inherit it.

11,000 people died in the UK last week of other causes.
Estimates are that 300,000 people have had or currently have the virus in the uk already, most with very mild symptoms. It puts the mortality rate into a whole different context.

Those sceptical of the virus..

1. Should we be doing less, & as such "let the virus run through the population" as someone in a position of high office uttered only a few weeks ago? A bit like a testing lab, but only on a nationwide level?

2. Or should we be doing even more, thus minimising those catching it & those dying from it?

If you think (1), please look at the accounts of those working on the frontline at the NHS.

I know to some they may still not qualify as "experts", but they really are worth listening to.

If you think (2), those same NHS staff will thank you for it. Not directly of course, but your conscience will tell you you've done the right thing.

I thinks it's good to highlight some of the positives of the statistics being thrown around. However we must not lose sight of the fact that 400+ people have died prematurely as a result of this virus and that is a lot of grieving families

Some good points there Mistry.

The knock on affects to society caused by a huge depression could be far worse. At this time we just don't know.
The woke brigade have been moaning how hard life is, they won't know whats hit them.

Hopefully this will make companies realise, we shouldn’t be sub contracting work to other countries just because they’re cheaper. Purchasing where I work have got a lot to answer for. The quality of some of are parts is shocking.
We end up remaking in house.

For my families sake I am going along with what is asked of them ,but as the days go by there is an anger building up that ive never felt before ,I find myself blaming scientists as awhole no matter what country, there surly is no excuse for producing the filthy stuff they have unleashed on my family

Please expand. In what way are you blaming science?

Do you mean because you think scientists created the virus?

Or do you mean the science behind how we let the virus spread?

Or some other reason?

I didn't here who it was or his exact job title but essentially and 'expert' has just said that if we ruin the economy by closing down too much and cutting GDP by more than 6.5% then the number of deaths due to future austerity cuts could outstrip those from Covid19.

The benefits of over reacting in OZ remain 9 dead all with heath conditions and 2 million unskilled service workers heading for the dole.

The fit and young are those losing their jobs while people over 65 who could have been targeted for care and isolation are the only ones dieing and needing treatment as of yet the hospitals are not having problems coping but elective surgery in all hospitals public and private is cancelled

The youth will take a financial hit while us older types will become a burden.
This will fracture society by creating poverty for the working class.

Hackney, considering we were just about to see the end of austerity, the future looks bleak.
I have just been informed today that I will be laid off on Friday for 12 weeks, I’m self employed so won’t be paid. But the reality is no one knows how long it will be for and if there will be any jobs after the shutdown.

Keeping people employed is far more important than any other concern its good to see 400,000 volunteer for health service duty even better if they receive some payment to keep the economy going.

i find that im not that impressed with the wonders of science , my first meeting with science came when i was five or 6 year old when me and my dad took my eldest brother back to his school in Essex he was wheel chair bound and it was a special schoolfor handicapped ,when we got there my dad got the wheel chair out and i made the mistake of running in through the main doors into a large room where there were 40 or50 boys and girls my age but with every possible combination of limbs missing , they were thalidomide children ,and it was my first lesson that science should be questioned all the time i have no doubt that this is man made ( butthat could mean several thing )and also there are plenty of scientist who are arrogant enough to believe they can control the monster they have made,i was told by a professor years ago that our problems are caused by the way we live ,and he said that no sooner will we master one problem than another will spring up .
